Dr. Zogas Nikolaos is a Gastroenterologist - Hepatologist with a clinic in Kallithea and an external collaborator of some of the largest private clinics in Athens where he performs endoscopy. He graduated from the University of Udine in Italy. He served as Director at the Department of Pathology and Gastroenterology of the University Hospital in Umeå, Västerbotten, Sweden, where he obtained two specialty titles (recognized by the Greek Authorities): Gastroenterology - Hepatology and Internal Medicine. Additionally, he is a PhD candidate at the University of Umeå, where he also served as a trainer for medical residents and nurses at the Medicinkliniken and holds, among others, certification from the two-year program Grundläggande Forskningsmetodik för läkare. He has many years of experience in monitoring hepatology patients and is particularly specialized in clinical (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, diarrheal syndromes, constipation, celiac disease, Helicobacter pylori, collagenous gastritis, etc.) and interventional gastroenterology with numerous difficult endoscopies, polypectomies, and other interventional procedures. He has specific expertise in interventional procedures such as large polyp polypectomies with EMR, balloon enteroscopy (double or single balloon enteroscopy), esophageal variceal ligation, dilation of gastrointestinal strictures, gastrostomy placement (PEG), and others. He served as a consultant in the Gastroenterology Department of the hospital "Elpis" until the end of 2020.
