Ο ιατρός είναι πτυχιούχος της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών και κατέχει τον τίτλο του Διδάκτορα. Κατόπιν διετέλεσε (επί 5ετία) Επιμελητής και Κλινικός Ερευνητής στο Γαστρεντερολογικό Τμήμα του Γενικού Κρατικού Νοσοκομείου Αθηνών. Επί 20ετία διετέλεσε Διευθυντής, στη Γαστρεντερολογική Κλινική και το Ενδοσκοπικό Τμήμα της Κεντρικής Κλινικής Αθηνών. Από 1991 μέχρι και σήμερα, έχει ενεργό συμμετοχή σε σεμινάρια, συμπόσια, στρογγυλά τραπέζια, ζωντανές ενδοσκοπικές παρουσιάσεις, μετεκπαιδευτικά σεμινάρια, ενώ είναι και προσκεκλημένος ομιλητής και πρόεδρος σε πανελλήνια και διεθνή συνέδρια . Τέλος, είναι συγγραφέας πολλών ξενόγλωσσων (αγγλόφωνων) δημοσιεύσεων, σε υψηλού κύρους διεθνών γαστρεντερολογικών περιοδικών.  Είναι εκπαιδευτής, συναδέλφων του, σε επεμβατικές ενδοσκοπικές γαστρεντερολογικές πράξεις.  Διετέλεσε πρόεδρος της Επαγγελματικής Ένωσης Γαστρεντερολόγων Ελλάδος (ΕΠΕΓΕ), επί εννέα έτη.
