Τα τελευταία χρόνια επικεντρώθηκε στη χειρουργική ενδοκρινών αδένων εργαζόμενος σε ονομαστά κέντρα αναφοράς της Γερμανίας, στο Essen υπό τη διεύθυνση του Prof. M. Walz και στη συνέχεια στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Marburg, όπου σε συνεργασία με την υπεύθυνη του τμήματος χειρουργικής ενδοκρινών αδένων και πρόεδρο της Πανγερμανικής Εταιρίας Χειρουργικής Ενδοκρινών Αδένων, Prof. K. Holzer, διαχειρίστηκαν και αντιμετώπισαν επί σειρά ετών ένα μεγάλο αριθμό περιστατικών, που αφορούσαν τόσο καλοήθεις όσο και κακοήθεις παθήσεις θυρεοειδούς, επινεφριδίων και παθήσεις των παραθυρεοειδών αδένων.

Παράλληλα με την εξειδίκευσή του στη χειρουργική ενδοκρινών αδένων, παρακολούθησε το Μεταπτυχιακό Πρόγραμμα του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης, με αντικείμενο τη Στατιστική και Αναλυτική Βιοϊατρικών Δεδομένων (Health Statistics and Data Analytics), το οποίο και ολοκλήρωσε με άριστα, αποκτώντας τον τίτλο Master of Science (MSc). Το πλούσιο συγγραφικό του έργο και η απρόσκοπτη ενασχόληση του με την εκπαίδευση των φοιτητών της Πανεπιστημιακής Κλινικής Marburg άνοιξαν το δρόμο για την αναγόρευσή του σε Αναπληρωτή Καθηγητή (PD Dr. med.) στο Πανεπιστήμιο «Philipps-University Marburg». Συνεχίζει με υπευθυνότητα και αμείωτο ενθουσιασμό το ακαδημαϊκό του έργο στην Πανεπιστημιακή Κλινική Marburg, συμμετέχοντας στη διδασκαλία και την επίβλεψη διδακτορικών διατριβών των φοιτητών του Πανεπιστημίου.

Έχει συμμετάσχει σε πληθώρα πανευρωπαϊκών και πανγερμανικών συνεδρίων χειρουργικής ενδοκρινών αδένων και νευροενδοκρινών όγκων με παρουσιάσεις σε μορφή posters (ελεύθερων ανακοινώσεων) και ομιλιών, ενώ έχει βραβευτεί για το επιστημονικό του έργο από τη Γερμανική Εταιρία Χειρουργικής Ενδοκρινών Αδένων. Το συγγραφικό του έργο αριθμεί πάνω από 40 επιστημονικές δημοσιεύσεις στο PubMed σε μεγάλα διεθνή ιατρικά περιοδικά, πάνω από 890 βιβλιογραφικές αναφορές και ειδικό δείκτη παραπομπών (h-index) 15. Ως ενεργό μέλος της Ακαδημαϊκής Κοινότητας του Πανεπιστημίου του Marburg συνεχίζει το ακαδημαϊκό και ερευνητικό-επιστημονικό του έργο. Παράλληλα είναι τακτικό και ενεργό μέλος της Γερμανικής Εταιρίας Χειρουργικής Ενδοκρινών Αδένων, της Γερμανικής Εταιρίας Γενικής και Σπλαχνικής Χειρουργικής και μέλος του Συλλόγου Χειρουργών Γερμανίας. 

Dr. Sakorafas Georgios MD, PhD is a Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgeon with a private practice in Ampelokipoi. He has served for several years in major hospitals in Athens in positions of responsibility: Coordinating Director of the Surgical Clinic at "Agios Savvas" Hospital, Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Athens [4th University Surgical Clinic, Attiko Hospital], and at the 251st Air Force General Hospital (Deputy Director of the Surgical Clinic, Head of the Emergency Department, Head of the Education Office of the Air Force Medical Corps). He completed a two-year fellowship in the United States in Endocrine, General, and Oncologic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. During this period, he performed a very large number of endocrine, general, and oncologic surgical procedures. His particular area of interest is Endocrine Gland Surgery (Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery), in which he has extensive experience, including the management of complicated and difficult cases. Alongside his significant clinical work (evidenced by the high number of thyroid and parathyroid surgeries), he also boasts noteworthy academic, research, and authorship contributions in both endocrine and oncologic-general surgery. He graduated with honors from the Military Medical School (Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki).
