Georgopoulos Nikolaos is a General Surgeon and maintains private practices in Mavili Square and in Sparta. From 2012 until 2023, he served as Director of the 2nd Surgical Clinic at the Naval Hospital of Athens, and he is currently the Director of the Surgical Clinic at Mediterraneo Hospital. He graduated from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and completed his specialization in General Surgery in 1996, having trained at the Naval Hospitals of Crete and Athens, as well as at the General Hospital of Athens "Evangelismos," where he received training in trauma, upper and lower gastrointestinal surgery, endocrine gland surgery, bariatric surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and organ transplantation. Overall (including surgeries performed in private clinics), he has operated on over 7,500 patients. In the intervening periods, he completed further training abroad in Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, England, Switzerland, and Brazil. In his latest training in lower rectal cancer, he had the opportunity to successfully perform laparoscopic surgery (including TaTME), preserving the sphincters and anus and avoiding permanent colostomy. He has also been trained in Robotic Surgery. Finally, with over 20 years of experience, he co-organizes Greek and international conferences, keeping up with and contributing to advancements in surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and bariatric surgery.
