Κατά τη διάρκεια της ειδικότητάς της αντιμετώπισε πληθώρα περίπλοκων μαιευτικών και γυναικολογικών περιστατικών και απέκτησε εμπειρία σε όλο το φάσμα της ειδικότητας. Παράλληλα συμμετείχε στα προγράμματα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ακαδημίας Γυναικολογικής Ενδοσκοπικής Χειρουργικής όπου εκπαιδεύτηκε στην Υστεροσκόπηση και Προχωρημένη Λαπαροσκοπική Συρραφή. Εκεί εργάστηκε για ένα έτος στο Princess Royal University Hospital και ακολούθως για 3 έτη στο κέντρο Υποβοηθούμενης Αναπαραγωγής Create Fertility London, αποκτώντας εμπειρία στα πρωτόκολλα εξωσωματικής γονιμοποίησης, τον τρισδιάστατο (3D) γυναικολογικό υπέρηχο, τις σπερματεγχύσεις, τις σονοϋστερουπηρηχογραφίες, τις ωοληψίες και εμβρυομεταφορές. Κατέχει πιστοποίηση στην Υπερηχογραφία Πυέλου – Υστεροσονογραφία (HyCoSy) – 3D Υπερηχογραφία καθώς επίσης και στην Εμβρυομεταφορά – Σπερματέγχυση, από τη Βρετανική Εταιρεία Αναπαραγωγής (British Fertility Society), στην οποία είναι μέλος από το 2020. Ioannis A. Thanopoulos is an Obstetrician, Surgeon - Gynecologist and maintains private practices in Ilion and Kolonaki.
