Μετά την αποφοίτησή του από την Ιατρική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών, έλαβε την ειδικότητα της Χειρουργικής από τα κορυφαία Πανεπιστημιακά Νοσοκομεία Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc στις Βρυξέλλες και από τη Β’ Προπαιδευτική Πανεπιστημιακή Χειρουργική Κλινική του Λαϊκού Νοσοκομείου στην Αθήνα. Το 2014 μετέβη στη Μεγάλη Βρετανία, όπου υπερεξειδικεύτηκε (Fellowship) στη Χειρουργική Ογκολογία του Μαστού, την Ογκοπλαστική Χειρουργική του Μαστού και την Αποκατάσταση του Μαστού μετά από Μαστεκτομή στην παγκοσμίου φήμης Μονάδα Μαστού του Guy’s and Saint Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust του Λονδίνου. Στο ίδιο Νοσοκομείο διετέλεσε Αναπληρωτής Διευθυντής της Μονάδας Μαστού και Επίκουρος Καθηγητής της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου King’s College London. To 2018, μετά από επιλογή με αυστηρά κριτήρια και επιτυχή συνέντευξη ενώπιον 7μελούς Επιτροπής μετέβη στη Μονάδα Μαστού του University College London, όπου διετέλεσε Διευθυντής Χειρουργός (Substantive Consultant Surgeon), Επικεφαλής του Ογκολογικού Συμβουλίου και Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής Χειρουργικής Μαστού στην Ιατρική Σχολή του University College London. Την ίδια περίοδο διετέλεσε Συντονιστής Διευθυντής σε διεθνούς φήμης Ιδιωτικά Κέντρα Μαστού του Λονδίνου (HCA The Wellington Hospital, 99 Harley Street Utrasound Group). To 2021, κατά τη διάρκεια της πανδημίας του Covid-19 υπήρξε πρωτοπόρος μαζί με την Ομάδα Χειρουργών που ηγήθηκε, καθώς για πρώτη φορά στη Μ. Βρετανία εφαρμόστηκε η πρωτοποριακή τεχνική άμεσης αποκατάστασης μαστού μετά από μαστεκτομή σε ένα χειρουργείο με ημερήσια νοσηλεία (χωρίς διανυκτέρευση στο νοσοκομείο). Παράλληλα, θεμελίωσε με την ομάδα του University College London Hospitals την ασύρματη χειρουργική μαστού -ευρεία εκτομή καρκίνου μαστού χωρίς χρήση συρμάτινου οδηγού. Κατά τη διάρκεια της παραμονής του στη Μεγάλη Βρετανία απέκτησε εκτεταμένη εμπειρία και εξειδίκευση στη χειρουργική ογκολογία του μαστού, την ογκοπλαστική διατήρηση του μαστού, την αποκατάσταση του μαστού μετά από μαστεκτομή και την ελάχιστα επεμβατική χειρουργική μαστού και μασχάλης μετά από προεγχειρητική χημειοθεραπεία (neoadjuvant chemotherapy). Έχει πραγματοποιήσει πάνω από 4000 επεμβάσεις μαστού, εκ των οποίων πλειονότητα αποτελούν μείζονες, πολύπλοκες επεμβάσεις, επανεπεμβάσεις και προχωρημένες ογκοπλαστικές αποκαταστάσεις μαστού. Το 2018 αναγορεύτηκε ομόφωνα Διδάκτωρ Χειρουργικής Ογκολογίας Μαστού της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών με την ανώτερη Διάκριση (Άριστα). Το ερευνητικό και κλινικό επιστημονικό του έργο περιλαμβάνει περισσότερες από 40 δημοσιεύσεις σε έγκριτα διεθνή περιοδικά και επιστημονικά συγγράμματα, καθώς και συνεχή παρουσία σε διεθνή συνέδρια και σεμινάρια ογκοπλαστικής χειρουργικής. Οι εργασίες του έχουν πολλαπλές αναφορές στη διεθνή βιβλιογραφία (587 citations, H-index 15), ενώ η συντριπτική πλειοψηφία του έργου του έχει καταχωρηθεί και στη βάση δεδομένων PubMed, γεγονός που επιβεβαιώνει τη διεθνή του αναγνώριση και τη συμβολή του στην πρόοδο της Χειρουργικής Μαστού. Είναι Πλήρες Μέλος του Βασιλικού Κολλεγίου Χειρουργών της Αγγλίας και Πιστοποιημένος Χειρουργός Ογκολόγος Μαστού με διπλή ευρωπαϊκή πιστοποίηση (European Board of Breast Surgery, European Breast Surgical Oncology Certification). Επιπλέον, είναι Fellow και Εξεταστής του European Board of Breast Surgery για τη χορήγηση πιστοποίησης σε νέους εξειδικευμένους χειρουργούς μαστού.

Dr. Koura Sofia MD, MSc, PhDc is an Obstetrician – Gynecological Surgeon specializing in Breast pathology and surgery.

She currently works in the Breast Department of the 1st Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) as an Assistant Consultant B’, while simultaneously collaborating with the private clinics Iaso and Lefkos Stavros.

She is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at Democritus University of Thrace, holder of the Postgraduate Program "Breast Diseases," and a PhD candidate at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).

She specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the 1st Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic of NKUA and obtained her specialty certification in March 2022. Previously, she trained in General Surgery at the surgical clinic of the General Hospital of Didymoteicho, and completed her rural service at the Kyani Regional Clinic of Didymoteicho.

She is a member of the Hellenic Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (EMGE) and the Hellenic Gynecological Society of Breast Diseases (EGEPAM).

Finally, she maintains an active and continuous scientific presence, with extensive research and publication work in the field of breast pathology and surgery. She has participated in numerous Greek and international scientific conferences, both through presentations and oral communications.

Ο Ρέλλιας Ιωάννης MD, MSc, PhD είναι Μαστολόγος - Χειρουργός μαστού και Διδάκτωρ της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Εθνικού & Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών με ιδιωτικό ιατρείο στη πλατεία Μαβίλη. Αποφοίτησε από την Ιατρική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Ιωαννίνων και εν συνεχεία ολοκλήρωσε το Μεταπτυχιακό της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Εθνικού & Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών «Έρευνα στη Γυναικεία Αναπαραγωγή», με βαθμό πτυχίου «Άριστα» 9,24. Εργάσθηκε ως Υπεύθυνος Ιατρός πολυεθνικής - πολυκεντρικής κλινικής μελέτης σχετικά με την ανοσοθεραπεία του καρκίνου μαστού στο Αντικαρκινικό Νοσοκομείο Αθηνών «Άγιος Σάββας». Ασκήθηκε στην Γενική Χειρουργική στο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Πειραιά «Τζάνειο». Ειδικεύτηκε στη Μαιευτική - Γυναικολογία, στην Α’ Μαιευτική - Γυναικολογική κλινική του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών στο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο «Αλεξάνδρα», και εξειδικεύτηκε στο τμήμα Μαστού, στο ίδιο νοσοκομείο. Υπηρέτησε ως ειδικευμένος χειρουργός μαστού στο τμήμα Μαστού της Α’ Μαιευτικής - Γυναικολογικής κλινικής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Διαθέτει πιστοποίηση Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics από την American Academy of Family Physicians και πιστοποίηση IBUS - Breast Imaging School - Multimodality Breast Imaging and Image-Guided Interventions Course, Detection, Diagnosis, Management από την Scientific Society of Mastology. Συμμετέχει ενεργά σε πλήθος συνεδρίων και σεμιναρίων στα πλαίσια της συνεχούς κατάρτισης και έχει πραγματοποιήσει αρκετές επιστημονικές δημοσιεύσεις. Ο γιατρός διαθέτει σημαντική εμπειρία στην αντιμετώπιση παθήσεων μαστού και γυναικολογικών παθήσεων και δίνεται ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στην άσκηση της ιατρικής βάσει τελευταίων κατευθυντήριων οδηγιών και σύγχρονων θεραπευτικών πρωτοκόλλων (“evidence based medicine”).
