Topkas Athanasios MD, MSc is an Orthopedic Surgeon - Sports Medicine Specialist, affiliated with the Orthopedic Clinic of "Hygeia" Hospital, and maintains a private practice in Marousi. He graduated with honors from the Medical School of Varna University and holds a Master's degree in Metabolic Bone Diseases from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He began his specialization in Orthopedic Surgery - Traumatology at the General Prefectural Hospital of Edessa and continued his training at the 1st IKA Hospital of Athens and the General Attica Hospital KAT. He worked as a Registrar B at the Sports Injuries Department of the General Attica Hospital KAT and subsequently as a Registrar B in the 2nd Hand Surgery and Microsurgery Department of the same hospital. During his specialization and tenure, he specialized in all surgeries related to the upper limb and the hand. Additionally, he specialized in Sports Medicine, with a particular emphasis on knee arthroscopy and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ligament injuries of the knee). To date, Dr. Topkas remains a Scientific Collaborator of numerous private hospitals and groups such as Hygeia Hospital, the Biomed Group, the Athens and Piraeus Bioclinic, the Euromedica Group, the Errikos Dynan Hospital Center, the Mediterraneo Hospital, the Athenian Clinic, and the Athens Medical Group. Throughout his medical career, he has actively participated in the development of numerous studies, which have been presented at Greek and international conferences, and has contributed to the authorship of publications. He has participated in numerous postgraduate training programs and workshops and has served on organizing committees for various conferences. Finally, he is a member of the Athens Medical Association, the Hellenic Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, the Hellenic Society for Hand Surgery, and the Hellenic Society for Wound and Ulcer Healing.
