Ο Ιατρός Ουρολόγος - Ανδρολόγος Γεώργιος Αθανασόπουλος γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα και αποφοίτησε από την Ιατρική Σχολή του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών με βαθμό «Λίαν Καλώς». Υπηρέτησε τη στρατιωτική του θητεία στο Πολεμικό Ναυτικό και ολοκλήρωσε την υπηρεσία υπαίθρου στο ΠΙ Λίνδου Ρόδου.

Ειδικεύτηκε στην Ουρολογία στη Β’ Πανεπιστημιακή Ουρολογική Κλινική και έλαβε τον τίτλο ειδικότητας το 2002, ενώ το 2003 ανακηρύχθηκε Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU), κατόπιν εξετάσεων.

Έχει πολυετή εμπειρία σε ευρύτατο φάσμα παθήσεων, αποκτηθείσα τόσο στον δημόσιο όσο και στον ιδιωτικό τομέα. Εργάστηκε σε μονάδες και Νοσοκομεία του ΙΚΑ και από το 2011 υπηρετεί στο ΕΣΥ, αρχικά στην Πολυκλινική Αθηνών και από το 2013 στο ΓΝΕ «Θριάσιο», όπου κατέχει από το 2019 τον βαθμό του Διευθυντή ΕΣΥ.
