Koliviras Thanos

Dr. Kolyviras Thanos MD, PhD, FESC is an Interventional Cardiologist and Director of the 4th Cardiology Clinic - Interventional Cardiology at Metropolitan General Hospital, HHG Group. He holds an official Specialization Title in Interventional Cardiology and specializes in complex coronary artery interventions and the interventional treatment of aortic valve stenosis using the TAVI method. He was admitted through the Panhellenic Examinations to the Medical School of the University of Athens in 2002 and subsequently moved to Brussels (Belgium) in 2009, where he specialized in Cardiology. In September 2016, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Medical School of the University of Athens with honors. He has performed more than 3,000 coronary artery procedures and is an accredited Interventional Cardiologist for the implantation of percutaneous aortic valves using the TAVI method. He has received a Fellowship from the European Society of Cardiology to attend the European Congress in Barcelona (2014), where he was awarded for the best oral presentation. Additionally, in 2020, he obtained certification from the European Association of Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (EAPCI) – Certificate of Excellence and since 2021 he is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC). He has an extensive authorial and research portfolio, with particular interest and involvement in the education of young colleagues. His future plans focus on clinical research in the fields of interventional cardiology for the treatment primarily of valvular diseases with new transcatheter techniques, as well as interdisciplinary collaboration on specialized topics in interventional cardiology both in Greece and abroad.
