Chrysavgi Adamopoulou is a Pediatric Ophthalmic Surgeon, Specialist in Pediatric and Adult Strabismus, and maintains a private practice in Ampelokipoi. She has served as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University in the United States of America, as well as Director of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Department at MetroHealth Medical Center, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. After completing her studies at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, she continued her training in the United States where she obtained her Ophthalmology specialty at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and subspecialized in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult and Pediatric Strabismus Surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan and the Kresge Eye Institute of Michigan. She has extensive experience in the surgical management of pediatric ophthalmologic conditions such as strabismus, congenital cataracts, retinopathy of prematurity, as well as in the surgical treatment of adult strabismus.
She holds certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO), is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus (AAPOS). She served as a member of the Professional Education Committee of AAPOS for five consecutive years (2015-2020), a committee that contributes through lectures and educational programs to the further training of pediatric ophthalmologists in America. She was Section Editor of Eyewikipedia in the field of Pediatric Ophthalmology for three years (2015-2018) and was awarded a Certificate of Excellence for her contribution. Additionally, she has publications in major medical journals and has authored ophthalmology chapters in medical textbooks.
