Koudounis Panagiotis

Panagiotis Koudounis is a cardiologist – electrophysiologist with a special interest in the use of cardiovascular imaging for the diagnosis and treatment (ablation) of complex arrhythmias, as well as in the implantation and monitoring of cardiac devices (pacemakers, defibrillators). He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina (2009). He trained in the United Kingdom at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation NHS Trust and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and in Greece at the Hellenic Red Cross Korgialenio – Benakeio Hospital. He obtained his cardiology specialty certification in 2018. In 2019, he specialized in Electrophysiology with a scholarship from the Hellenic Cardiological Society. Until May 2021, he worked as a Cardiologist Consultant at the Hellenic Red Cross Korgialenio – Benakeio Hospital, and since June 2021, he has been a Consultant at the Heart and Vascular Center of the Athens Medical Group and the Cardiology Center of P. Faliro Medical Group. He holds a postgraduate degree from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens as well as the European Diploma in Cardiology. In 2014, he was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP) after passing written and oral examinations. In 2020, he obtained the European certification in implantable cardiac devices (EHRA Cardiac Device Specialist). Additionally, in 2017 and 2018, he received European certification in transthoracic (EACVI Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography) and transesophageal echocardiography (EACVI Adult Transoesophageal Echocardiography), respectively. Since 2015, he has been an instructor in ALS (Advanced Life Support – Hellenic Cardiological Society). He has publications in national and international journals, has participated as a speaker at international conferences, and has contributed to the authorship of scientific textbooks.
