Ophthalmologists

Dr. Mendrinos Eustratios graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Liège in Belgium with Highest Distinction. He specialized in ophthalmology at the University Hospital of Geneva, Switzerland, where he also earned his Doctorate from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva. He worked as a Consultant in the Department of Retinal, Vitreous, and Macular Diseases and Surgery at the University Hospital of Geneva, and subsequently at the University Hospital of Liverpool, England, under the direction of the world-renowned ophthalmic surgeons Professor K. Pournaras and Prof. H. Heiman, respectively. He is the author of 35 articles in international scientific journals, as well as 18 chapters in English and French ophthalmology books, and has delivered over 90 presentations at Greek and international ophthalmology conferences. He holds the European Board of Ophthalmology diploma and has been awarded for his scientific work at international conferences. Dr. Mendrinos has participated in international studies (Excite, Mont Blanc, Cabernet, VIEW2) that established the modern management of age-related macular degeneration. He is the founder and administrator of the Medica Polyclinic in Agios Stefanos, where he currently practices, a state-of-the-art facility covering nearly all specialties. Additionally, he is affiliated with the Athens Medical Center in Marousi and the OMMA Ophthalmology Clinic.

Ο Ασλανίδης Ιωάννης MD,PhD, F.R.C.Ophth,MBA είναι Οφθαλμίατρος με ιδιωτικό ιατρείο στο Ηράκλειο Κρήτης. Είναι Πρόεδρος του Ελληνικού Κολλεγίου Οφθαλμολογίας και ιδρυτής και ιατρικός διευθυντής της Εμμετρωπία ΑΕ. Εκπόνησε τη διδακτορική του διατριβή στο Πανεπιστήμιο Weill-Cornell Medical College της Νέας Υόρκης με θέμα "Υπέρηχοι πολύ υψηλής συχνότητας στη Διαθλαστική χειρουργική", ενώ παράλληλα εμπλούτισε επιμελώς την κλινική του εκπαίδευση και εμπειρία και σε άλλους τομείς της Οφθαλμολογίας στις ΗΠΑ. Επιπροσθέτως, εξειδικεύθηκε στις Παθήσεις Αμφιβληστροειδούς και της Ωχράς στο University of Toronto στον Καναδά, ενώ τo 1999-2000 σαν υπότροφος του Ιδρύματος Ωνάση εξειδικεύθηκε στη "Διαθλαστική Χειρουργική και Χειρουργική του Προσθίου ημιμορίου του Οφθαλμού" στο University of Newcastle της Μεγάλης Βρετανίας. Έχει διατελέσει Επιστημονικός Διευθυντής Διαθλαστικής Χειρουργικής του Βαρδινογιάννειου Εργαστηρίου Μικροχειρουργικής και Μεταμοσχεύσεων του Οφθαλμού (ΒΕΜΜΟ) της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης. Έχει ενεργό συμμετοχή σε πάνω από 300 δημοσιεύσεις, ανακοινώσεις, επιστημονικά άρθρα, κεφάλαια σε βιβλία, ή παρουσιάσεις σε ευρωπαϊκό ή παγκόσμιο επίπεδο και είναι εταίρος του Royal College of Ophthalmologists του Λονδίνου, ενώ έχει πραγματοποιήσει πάνω από 10.000 διαθλαστικές και άλλες οφθαλμολογικές επεμβάσεις και έχει εκπαιδεύσει μεγάλο αριθμό ημεδαπών και αλλοδαπών διαθλαστικών χειρούργων από όλο τον κόσμο. Επιπλέον, είναι καθηγητής Οφθαλμολογίας στο Weill - Cornell Medical College της Νέας Υόρκης, επισκέπτης καθηγητής στο Ιατρικό Πανεπιστήμιο Wenzhou της Κίνας και επιστημονικός σύμβουλος της ιατρικής βιομηχανίας λέιζερ και απεικονιστικών συστημάτων στην οφθαλμολογία. Τέλος, είναι μέλος της Επιστημονικής Επιτροπής της Ελληνικής Ολυμπιακής Επιτροπής.

Dr. Mintziras Dionysios is an Ophthalmologist with a private practice in Galatsi. He graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and completed his Ophthalmology specialty training at the 251 Air Force General Hospital and the Theia Pronoia Hospital "H Pammakaristos." Throughout his professional career, he has served as a trainee ophthalmologist in England and has taught courses in the Nursing Department of the Technological Educational Institute of Kyparissia. To date, Dr. Mintziras collaborates with the Central Clinic of Athens, the Athens Refractive Center, and Athens Vision. Additionally, he has contributed to the authorship of papers published in both Greek and international scientific journals.

Ioannis Xatzidiakou is an Ophthalmologist with a private practice in Rhodes. He holds a medical degree from the Medical School of the University of Crete and a Master of Science from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom - Department of Optics and Medicine. Dr. Xatzidiakou completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University Hospital of Patras, followed by a position as an Ophthalmology Training Fellow at the Newcastle R.V.I. University Hospital. He has also served as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Rhodes Health Center. In his private practice, he manages a wide range of cases, always prioritizing the best possible care tailored to the individual needs of each patient.

Triantafyllos Antonis is an Ophthalmologist who maintains private practices in Piraeus and Salamina. He is a graduate of the Military School of Officer Corps of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and specialized in Ophthalmology at the Naval Hospital of Athens. Subsequently, he further specialized at the Ophthalmology Clinic of the General Hospital of Athens "G. Gennimatas," where he managed a wide range of cases and their treatment, obtaining his Ophthalmology specialty in 1999. Currently, he is the deputy director of the Ophthalmology Clinic at the Naval Hospital of Athens and collaborates with private ophthalmology clinics. Notably, he has ongoing participation in conferences. Furthermore, he is a member of the Hellenic Ophthalmological Society. Πτυχιούχος και Διδάκτωρ της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών και κάτοχος Μεταπτυχιακού Διπλώματος στη Διοίκηση Μονάδων Υγείας.

Την ειδικότητά του στην Οφθαλμολογία την ολοκλήρωσε σε μεγάλα νοσοκομεία της χώρας, αποκτώντας πλούσια χειρουργική εμπειρία.

Εκπαιδεύτηκε στο Ναυτικό Νοσοκομείο Αθηνών, στο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Παίδων Αθηνών «Παναγιώτη & Αγλαΐας Κυριακού» και στο Πανεπιστημιακό Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Πατρών, όπου πραγματοποίησε επεμβάσεις καταρράκτη, χειρουργεία στραβισμού σε παιδιά, καθώς και εξειδικευμένες παιδοοφθαλμολογικές επεμβάσεις.

Σήμερα εργάζεται ως Επιμελητής Οφθαλμίατρος στο Κέντρο Υγείας Σαλαμίνας και στο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Παίδων Αθηνών «Παναγιώτη & Αγλαΐας Κυριακού», ενώ έχει αποκτήσει και διεθνή εμπειρία στο Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals του NHS στη Μεγάλη Βρετανία.

Στο πλαίσιο της διδακτορικής του διατριβής ασχολήθηκε για αρκετά χρόνια με τις παθήσεις της ωχράς κηλίδας σε ενήλικες, μελετώντας την κλινική πορεία των ασθενών, εφαρμόζοντας ενδοϋαλοειδικές ενέσεις και παρακολουθώντας τα θεραπευτικά αποτελέσματα.

Diakonis Konstantinos is an Ophthalmologist with a private practice in Korydallos. He graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and has extensive experience in glaucoma, cataract, and laser refractive surgery (myopia, astigmatism, pediatric ophthalmology, hypermetropia). Lymperis Xaralampos is an Ophthalmologist, PhD candidate at the Medical Department of the University of Patras, and maintains a private practice in Palaio Faliro. He graduated from the Medical Department of the University of Patras and specialized in Ophthalmology at the Ophthalmology Clinic of the Naval Hospital of Athens, the General Hospital "Agios Andreas" in Patras, and the University General Hospital "Attikon" in Athens. Mpouzoukis Dimitrios MD, PhD, FEBO is an Ophthalmologist who maintains a private practice in Corfu, while simultaneously serving as the Scientific Director of the Laser Refractive Surgery Department at the "Ypapanti" Ophthalmology Clinic in Athens. He holds a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Crete. He specialized in Ophthalmology at the University Hospital of Heraklion and received further training in Laser Refractive Surgery at the Vardinogiannis Laboratory of the University of Crete, as well as in Cataract Surgery and Corneal Transplantation in the United Kingdom. He has served as the Scientific Director at the Vardinogiannis Laboratory for Transplants and Ophthalmic Microsurgery, and as a Consultant Ophthalmologist responsible for corneal transplants in hospitals in the United Kingdom. He has numerous publications in medical scientific journals, as well as significant participation in conferences with lectures and presentations. Finally, he is a member of medical associations and scientific societies both in Greece and abroad.

Mpezatis I Thanos is an Ophthalmic Surgeon and PhD holder from the University Eye Clinic of Bonn, with a private practice in Kolonaki. He is a former Consultant and Head of the Oculoplastic Surgery and Cataract Department at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He graduated from the Medical School of Athens in 2008 and completed his full specialization in ophthalmology at the University Clinics of Innsbruck, Austria, and Bonn, Germany. He obtained the European Diploma in Ophthalmology in 2013 and completed his doctoral thesis at the University Eye Clinic of Bonn in 2014. Subsequently, he specialized in cataract microsurgery (Cataract Fellowship) at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He then specialized in Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Cambridge University Hospital, the State Clinic of Maidstone Hospital, and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, serving as a salaried Clinical Fellow. Finally, he has extensive experience in laser refractive surgeries as well as in aesthetic medical treatment with botulinum toxin for addressing rhytidic aging.

Pappa Eleni is an Ophthalmic Surgeon and has maintained a private practice in Peristeri since 2021. She is a graduate of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She completed her five-year specialization in ophthalmology at one of the largest hospitals in northern Germany, Klinikum Bremen-Mitte. She also worked at the same hospital as a Consultant until March 2020, gaining significant experience in the diagnosis, monitoring, as well as the conservative and surgical management of ophthalmic conditions in both children and adults. Since September 2020, she has been a Consultant at the Euroclinic of Pediatrics and since 2021 also at the Euroclinic of Athens. She holds the European, German, and Greek National Ophthalmology Diplomas. She has numerous participations in international seminars and ophthalmology postgraduate trainings, as well as presentations/posters at German conferences. Dr. Syndikakis Konstantinos MD is an Ophthalmologist with a private practice in Kallithea. Dr. Tantros Xristin MD, MSc, FEBO is a Surgical Ophthalmologist and maintains private practices in Chalandri and Argyroupoli. She holds a medical degree from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and specialized in ophthalmology in Paris, Lausanne, and Athens. She is the Head of the Fundus (Medical Retina) Department at Eye Day Clinic in Athens. Dr. Tantros has completed a fellowship in Retinal and Macular Diseases at the internationally renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. She possesses extensive experience in services such as laser treatment, fundus examination, refractive assessment (including myopia measurement and prescription of glasses), glaucoma screening, cataract evaluation, macular assessment, tonometry, and corneal topography. Finally, she is a member of numerous scientific societies and associations and regularly attends a variety of conferences to ensure continuous professional development in her specialty.
