General surgeons

Dr. Ioannis Zouridakis, MD, MSc, is a General Surgeon and Breast Specialist who has maintained a private practice in Korydallos since 1994 and recently within REA Hospital. He is a Scientific Collaborator and a PhD candidate at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He earned his medical degree in 1986 from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” with a doctoral thesis completed during his studies. He specialized in General Surgery at the General Hospital of Athens "Evangelismos" and further specialized in Laparoscopic Surgery at the University of Montpellier in France. He attended the European Advanced Level Course in Breast Disease Management for Surgeons in Athens and specialized in the treatment of breast diseases at the 6th Oncology Hospital "G. Gennimatas." Subsequently, he specialized in hernia surgery using dual mesh PHS & Prolene 3D Patch at Umberto I Hospital in Italy and also specialized in Minimally Invasive Operating Techniques in Colorectal Surgery. He has worked in numerous hospitals and clinics and has served for many years as the Director of the Surgical Clinic at Metropolitan Hospital. Currently, he works daily as a Surgeon – Laparoscopist – Breast Specialist (Consultant Surgeon) at the General and Maternity Hospital REA, one of the most modern hospitals in Greece. Finally, he has attended and participated in over 100 medical conferences in Greece and abroad.

Ziozia Vasiliki is a General Surgeon, Senior Registrar of the 1st Surgical Clinic at IASO and maintains a private practice in Nea Irakleio. She holds a degree from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a Master's degree in "Surgical Anatomy" from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Dr. Ziozia has received a scholarship from the Hellenic Surgical Society to obtain her postgraduate degree, as well as a scholarship from the Hellenic Society of Coloproctology for specialization in colorectal and anal surgery at St Thomas’ Hospital in London. She initially specialized in Surgery at the General Hospital of Rethymno and subsequently at the General Hospital of Athens "Evangelismos." During 2022-23, she served as a Senior Clinical Fellow in the Colorectal Department at St Thomas’ Hospital in London. Dr. Ziozia has participated in numerous conferences, seminars, and courses and has authored many publications, as well as oral and poster presentations. Finally, she is a member of the Hellenic Society of Coloproctology.

Η Δρ Πετροπούλου Θάλεια είναι ειδική Χειρουργός Παχέος Εντέρου και έχει διεθνή κλινική και ακαδημαϊκή καριέρα μεταξύ Ελλάδας και Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου. Διατηρεί ιδιωτικό ιατρείο στους Αμπελόκηπους. Έχει πραγματοποιήσει χιλιάδες λαπαροσκοπικές και ρομποτικές επεμβάσεις και πρόσφατα έγινε η πρώτη Ελληνίδα χειρουργός που έλαβε την παγκόσμια διάκριση "Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery" από τον διεθνή οργανισμό SRC (Surgical Review Corporation), αναγνώριση που απονέμεται σε χειρουργούς υψηλής εξειδίκευσης και ποιότητας φροντίδας.

Είναι Διευθύντρια του Κέντρου Ρομποτικής & Ελάχιστα Επεμβατικής Χειρουργικής στην Ευρωκλινική Αθηνών, Πανεπιστημιακή Υπότροφος στο Αρεταίειο Νοσοκομείο, και Διευθύντρια (Consultant) Χειρουργός στο Πανεπιστημιακό Νοσοκομείο του Brighton στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο.

Είναι πρωτοπόρος στη ρομποτική και λαπαροσκοπική χειρουργική του παχέος εντέρου (Ελάχιστα Επεμβατική) και είναι η μόνη Ελληνίδα Χειρουργός που είναι πιστοποιημένη από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ακαδημία Ρομποτικής Χειρουργικής του Παχέος Εντέρου (EARCS). Σπούδασε στην Ιατρική Σχολή του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών και αναγορεύτηκε Διδάκτωρ γενικής χειρουργικής από το ίδιο πανεπιστήμιο.

Είναι εκπαιδεύτρια Ρομποτικής Χειρουργικής στο διεθνή φορέα εκπαίδευσης της Intuitive, την Ακαδημία ORSI στο Βέλγιο. Επίσης, είναι μέλος του Βασιλικού Κολλεγίου Χειρουργών του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου (FRCS) και διαπιστευμένη ενδοσκόπος από την JAG και πιστοποιημένη τόσο για διαγνωστική όσο και για θεραπευτική ενδοσκόπηση (EMR, ESD).

Κατέχει διεθνείς διακρίσεις για πρωτοποριακές και καινοτόμες τεχνικές στη Ρομποτική Χειρουργική.

Το 2022 πραγματοποίησε την πρώτη Ρομποτική Κολεκτομή δια φυσικών οπών- χωρίς τομή στην κοιλιά (NOTES) στην Ευρώπη.

Το κέντρο της είναι το μοναδικό στην Ελλάδα που πραγματοποιεί αυτή την επέμβαση.

Το 2024, πραγματοποίησε πρώτη παγκοσμίως προηγμένη ρομποτική επέμβαση με χρήση τεχνητής νοημοσύνης για real-time πλοήγηση και αναγνώριση εργαλείων και οργάνων.

Συμμετέχει ενεργά ως προσκεκλημένη ομιλήτρια σε διεθνή συνέδρια για τη ρομποτική χειρουργική και τα ERAS πρωτόκολλα, συμβάλλοντας στην εξέλιξη της ρομποτικής χειρουργικής χειρουργικής παγκοσμίως.

Spyropoulos Xaralampos is a General Surgeon, PhD holder from the Medical School of the University of Patras, and maintains a private practice in Chalandri. Additionally, he is the Director of the 3rd Surgical Clinic at Metropolitan General and a National Trauma Trainer in Greece and Cyprus, certified by the American College of Surgeons. He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Patras, specialized in General Surgery at the University Hospital of Patras, and further specialized in minimally invasive management of emergency surgical pathologies at the I.R.C.A.D - E.I.T.S. Laparoscopic Surgery Center in Strasbourg, France. Subsequently, he received advanced training in laparoscopic surgery of the upper gastrointestinal system and laparoscopic bariatric surgery at the DRK - Krankenhaus - Clementinenhaus hospital in Hanover, Germany. Moreover, he completed a postgraduate program in Clinical Laboratory Specialties at the University of Patras. Furthermore, he has worked as a General Surgeon at the "Eugenideio" Therapeutic Center, the "Rea" General Clinic, the University Hospital of Patras, and Stepping Hill Hospital in the United Kingdom. Finally, the physician is a member of the Athens Medical Association, the Hellenic Surgical Society, the European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery, the Hellenic Society of Gastrointestinal Oncology, the Hellenic Breast Surgery Society, and the Hellenic Society for the Application of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology.

Ο Γιάλβαλης Δημήτριος MD, MSc είναι Διευθυντής Χειρουργός του Ε' Χειρουργικού Τμήματος της Ευρωκλινικής Αθηνών. Γενικός Χειρουργός με εξειδίκευση στην Χειρουργική Ενδοκρινών και στην Λαπαροσκοπική & Ρομποτική Χειρουργική και κάτοχος τίτλου Μεταπτυχιακού Τίτλου (MSc) στην Ελάχιστα επεμβατική και Ρομποτική Χειρουργική του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Διατηρεί ιδιωτικό ιατρείο στο Χαλάνδρι και στην Καλαμάτα. Συμμετείχε σε πλήθος μετεκπαιδευτικών σεμιναρίων Λαπαροσκοπικής χειρουργικής και σύγχρονων χειρουργικών τεχνικών, στην συγγραφή επιστημονικών άρθρων, σε παρουσιάσεις και ομιλίες σε ποικίλα ιατρικά συνέδρια, καθώς επίσης είχε ενεργό ρόλο στην εκπαίδευση των ειδικευομένων και φοιτητών ιατρικής. Aggelopoulos Argyris is a General Surgeon and maintains a private practice at Bioclab Private Polyclinics in Livadeia and Marousi. He is a graduate and Doctor of Medicine from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School, with postgraduate studies in Surgical Anatomy from the same university. He also specialized and trained in hospitals in Greece and the United Kingdom (NHS). Moreover, he possesses significant clinical and teaching experience. His research experience is also noteworthy, consisting of numerous presentations and participations in scientific conferences in Greece and abroad, as well as publications. In his practice, he deals with pilonidal cyst removal, abscess drainage, surgical wound and pressure ulcer debridement, hemorrhoids, hernias, laparoscopic surgery, diseases of the liver, biliary tract, pancreas, thyroid, breast, and others.

Kouzanidis Nikolaos MD, MSc is a General Surgeon with private practices in Nea Ionia and Ampelokipoi. He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Patras and has completed postgraduate studies in minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, and telesurgery at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The physician performs laparoscopic cholecystectomies, inguinal hernias, umbilical hernias, and all types of surgical procedures, as well as home-based pressure ulcer debridement. Kouzanidis Nikolaos continuously updates his knowledge in his specialty through active participation in conferences and attendance at seminars. Mousiolis Dimitris MD, MSc, cPhD is a General Surgeon with a private clinic in Ilion. He graduated from the Medical School of Plovdiv University and obtained his specialty in General Surgery from the General Hospital of Athens "Elpis". He holds a postgraduate diploma in Liver - Biliary - Pancreatic Surgery from the Medical Department of Democritus University of Thrace and a Diploma from the Hellenic School of Mastology. Additionally, he has received specialized training in adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation, bariatric surgery, vascular access, sentinel lymph node biopsy, as well as in Laparoscopic & Robotic General Surgery. He specializes in the modern management of perianal diseases and has received specialized training in the minimally invasive treatment of perianal conditions (hemorrhoids, pilonidal cyst, perianal fistulas, anal fissures, condylomas) using specific surgical lasers (LHP, SiLAC, FiLaC) as well as in the treatment of hemorrhoidal disease with the use of ultrasound. To date, he is a collaborating General Surgeon at the Medical Center of Athens, the Bioclinic of Athens, and the Affidea - Euromedical Group. He has published scientific articles in reputable international medical journals and participates in specialized medical events in Greece and abroad. Finally, the doctor is a member of the Medical Association of Athens, the Hellenic Surgical Society, the Hellenic Scientific Society of Robotic Surgery, the Clinical Robotic Surgery Association, as well as the European Resuscitation Council.

Darom Aleksandros is a General Surgeon and Doctor of Medicine from the Medical School of the University of Athens, with a private practice in Piraeus. Concurrently, he serves as the Director of the Surgical Department at the METROPOLITAN Private Hospital. He studied at the Medical School of the University of Iași and specialized in General Surgery at the General University Hospital of Athens "Hippocrates." Additionally, he has undergone further training in the management of polytrauma patients, the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and critically ill surgical patients, Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery (minimally invasive surgery), Breast Surgery, Surgical Oncology, as well as the Surgical treatment of thyroid and parathyroid gland diseases. Finally, he has an extensive body of authorship in surgical textbooks, as well as significant published works in Greek and international journals.

Dr. Anastasios Aggelou MD, PhD, MSc. is a General Surgeon specialized in Advanced Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery, minimally invasive techniques, as well as Emergency Surgery. He holds a doctoral degree with honors from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has received further training at leading international centers, including the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Ohio State. He maintains a private practice in Agia Paraskevi and performs surgeries at private hospitals in Athens.

Mantonakis Eleutherios MD, MSc, PhD is a General Surgeon, Doctor of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Director of the I' Surgical Clinic at Errikos Dynan Hospital, with a private practice in Kolonaki. He has completed postgraduate studies in Liver, Biliary Tract, and Pancreatic Surgery and specialized in General Surgery at the A’ Surgical Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens at Laiko Hospital. He received further training in Laparoscopic Surgery and Surgical Oncology at the University Hospitals Beaujon and Georges-Pompidou in Paris. Zisiadis Dimitris MD, MSc, PhDc, is a General Surgeon and Director of the Surgical Clinic at the Medical Center of Athens - Psychiko, with private practices in Kifisia, Agios Dimitrios, Ilion, and Psychiko. He is a PhD candidate at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds a master's degree in Bioethics from the Medical School of Democritus University of Thrace. Additionally, it is worth mentioning his specialization in Laparoscopic Surgery from the University of Strasbourg in France, Minimally Invasive surgery for inguinal hernia repair at IRCAD, and training in robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery.
