Lentzas Georgios

Dr. Lentzas Georgios is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist based in Thessaloniki. He was born in Kozani in 1987. He was admitted to the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.), from which he graduated in 2011 with the grade "Very Good." He specialized in adult psychiatry at the hospitals of Nyköping and Karlstad in Sweden, gaining experience with a wide range of acute and chronic psychiatric disorders. He continued his specialization at the Psychiatric Hospital of Thessaloniki, where he trained in various psychotherapy modalities (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychoanalysis, Brief Intensive Dynamic Psychotherapy (BIDP), and Group Psychotherapy). In his practice, he applies Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT belongs to the third wave of behavioral therapies and can incorporate techniques from other therapeutic models. It is based on experiential learning of emotion regulation techniques (without unnecessary struggle or avoidance) and reducing the influence that dysfunctional thoughts and beliefs may have on the individual. Thus, the patient learns to live more freely and in accordance with their values. Before visiting a mental health specialist, individuals often try for some time to control their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors by various means without success. A psychiatrist can provide a variety of methods and tools so that the patient can choose those that suit them best and help effectively address their problems.
