Μελετήθηκε τόσο ο περιφερικός (βλάβη λαβυρίνθου ωτός) όσο και ο κεντρικός (βλάβη εγκεφάλου) τύπος ιλίγγου και υπήρξε παράλληλη σύγκριση των αποτελεσμάτων με άλλες δύο σχετικά μοντέρνες ηλεκτροφυσιολογικές εξετάσεις, τα αιθουσαία προκλητά μυογενή δυναμικά (VEMP) και την βιντεονυσταγμογραφία (VNG).
