Η Δρ. Μαρίνα Συκαρά είναι Βιολόγος και Ειδικός Ρευματολόγος, διδάκτωρ της Ιατρικής Σχολής Αθηνών (ΕΚΠΑ).

Ξεκίνησε τις σπουδές της στο Τμήμα Βιολογίας της Σχολής Θετικών Επιστημών του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών, δίνοντας από νωρίς έμφαση στην ανοσολογία και την αυτοανοσία. Μετά την απόκτηση του πρώτου της πτυχίου, συνέχισε τις σπουδές της στην Ιατρική σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών ενώ παράλληλα εκπόνησε και ολοκλήρωσε με «Άριστα» την Διδακτορική της Διατριβή στο ίδιο πανεπιστήμιο, με αντικείμενο τη μελέτη μοριακών παθογενετικών μηχανισμών στα συστηματικά αυτοάνοσα νοσήματα.  Συνέχισε το ερευνητικό της έργο, ως μεταδιδακτορική υπότροφος, στην Ιατρική Αθήνας και ακολούθως στο διεθνούς φήμης Κέντρο Μοριακής Βιολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου της Μαδρίτης (Centro de Biologia Molecular, Severo Ochoa).

Η ειδίκευσή της στη Ρευματολογία πραγματοποιήθηκε εξ ολοκλήρου στο Πανεπιστημιακό Γενικό Νοσοκομείο «Λαικό», με ενεργό συμμετοχή στα Κέντρα Εμπειρογνωμοσύνης Σπανίων Συστηματικών Αυτοφλεγμονωδών και Αυτοανόσων νοσημάτων, όπου και απέκτησε εξειδίκευση και πλούσια κλινική εμπειρία. 

Το συγγραφικό της έργο περιλαμβάνει πρωτότυπες δημοσιεύσεις σε έγκριτα διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά και ιατρικά συγγράματα, ενώ έχει τιμηθεί με δύο Ευρωπαικά βραβεία αριστείας, για τη συμβολή της στη βασική και κλινική έρευνα (EULAR, ERE). Συμμετέχει ενεργά σε διεθνή επιστημονικά συνέδρια Ρευματολογίας και κλινικές μελέτες. Είναι τακτικό μέλος της Ελληνικής Ρευματολογικής Εταιρίας. Η επιστημονική της προσέγγιση βασίζεται στην τεκμηριωμένη ιατρική γνώση, την κλινική ακρίβεια και την εξατομικευμένη φροντίδα του ασθενούς.
