About the specialist

I have maintained a private practice – Valsamo – in Thessaloniki since 2022. I work with the aim of co-creating new life possibilities with the individuals who turn to me, so that suffering is transformed with respect and care into balsams.

I studied Sociology (Hons) at the University of Crete and continued with a four-year training in Systemic Psychotherapy and Counseling at the Laboratory of Systemic Psychotherapy & Pedagogy «Rodakino». At the laboratory of systemic ideas, research, and intervention «Entropia», I trained in counseling for parents, children, and adolescents, as well as in creative therapeutic techniques such as systemic sculpture, genogram, and the family board. Concurrently, I completed a two-year program at the Observatory for Rights in the Mental Health Field in the accompaniment of individuals experiencing mental crises and their families, and I am a member of the active accompanying team.

My professional and research activity focuses on social empowerment, depathologization, and meaning-making of the mental experience, as well as on the development of collaborative, non-psychiatric accompaniment and support practices for extreme mental experiences. I present at conferences and seminars and have published scientific articles. I am an active member of the Systemic Society of Northern Greece, the Observatory for Rights in the Mental Health Field, and the Thessaloniki Health Runners Association.

About the specialist

Sonia Roboti is a Mental Health Counselor specializing in Counseling Psychotherapy, with a deep belief in the power of the therapeutic relationship. She sees therapy not just as a means of managing difficulties but as the creation of a safe space where individuals can stand honestly before themselves—without fear, shame, or guilt.

She graduated in 2022 from the University of Central Lancashire with a BSc in Psychology and is currently pursuing her MA in Counseling & Psychotherapy at the University of East London (2022-2025). At the same time, she has gained valuable professional experience, maintaining a private practice since 2022. She has also worked at Metropolitan College (2023-2025), the Nea Makri Speech Therapy Center (2022-2023), and the "Lara" Guide Dog School (2022-2023).

Throughout her professional journey, she has worked with individuals who feel exhausted from "keeping everything inside" or trying to be okay for everyone else. Whether dealing with anxiety, grief, internal conflicts, identity struggles, or the need to reconnect with themselves, her goal is to help them feel lighter, more confident, and freer.

She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), but above all, she offers presence—an authentic, warm, and steady presence that does not judge, pressure, or pretend to have all the answers. She believes that therapy is a shared journey of discovery, where answers are found together with the client.

Sonia has participated in various scientific conferences and training programs, including Workplace Stress and Burnout Syndrome at the University of Ioannina (2024), the Forensic Psychology Conference at London Metropolitan University (2024), as well as seminars on Clinical Psychopathology at the Hellenic Open University (2023) and Domestic Violence at City Unity (2023).

Her sessions are conducted online, allowing clients to engage in therapy from the comfort of their own space and on their own time. With professionalism, empathy, and deep respect, she is dedicated to providing a genuine space for healing and personal growth.

Approach

DBT focuses on acceptance and change. It helps the person to get to know themselves better, to think about why they do what they do, without judgment. Replacing a negative behavior or habit with ones that can improve the quality of life. Dialectic is the idea that two different things can be true at the same time. At the same time as accepting yourself exactly as you are, comes the recognition of your effort to change.
