General practitioners (GPs) in Prefecture of Achaea

Dr. Nikolaos Kostakis is a General Practitioner with extensive professional experience in both Greece and abroad. He began his medical career in 2008 as a rural doctor at the Health Center of Siteia. From 2009 to 2010, he worked as a private physician at the "Cretan Medi Help" Medical Center in Heraklion, and in 2010, he continued his private practice at the "Asklipieion of Crete" private clinic. Between 2010 and 2011, he served as a rural doctor fulfilling his mandatory service at the Regional Clinic of Menetes in Karpathos. In 2013–2014, he gained international experience as a resident in General Practice at the "FLEN" Health Center in Sweden, and he completed his residency in Greece at the University General Hospital of Heraklion (PAGNI) from 2014 to 2017. Since 2017, he has been serving as a General Practitioner at the 1st Local Health Unit (TOMY) in Heraklion, and since 2025, he also maintains a private medical practice in the same city. He holds a medical degree from the Second University of Naples in Italy.  

Dr. Theodoros Lagarias is a seasoned physician with extensive experience in Primary Health Care and medical education. He began his medical career as a resident physician at the General Hospital of Chania, serving from 2007 to 2011. Subsequently, he held the position of General Practitioner at the Health Center of Agia, Larissa, advancing to the rank of Senior Registrar (Grade A) from 2011 until 2024.​

Between 2017 and 2024, Dr. Lagarias served as the coordinator for the training of resident physicians in General/Family Medicine at the General Hospital of Larissa, playing a pivotal role in their clinical and scientific development. Concurrently, he contributed to undergraduate medical education by participating as an instructor during educational visits of medical students from the School of Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki to Primary Health Care units.​

Dr. Lagarias holds certifications in emergency pre-hospital care and in the early detection and prevention of mental disorders, the latter obtained through the Vocational Training Center of the Mental Health Center in Chania. He has actively participated in numerous educational activities, both as a trainee and as a lecturer, including seminars, conferences, and training workshops.​

Η Αρντέτα-Μαρία Μάρκου είναι Γενικός Οικογενειακός Ιατρός με ιδιωτικό ιατρείο στο Κορωπί. Είναι πτυχιούχος της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών.

H κ. Μάρκου διαθέτει πολυετή κλινική εμπειρία και συστηματική ενασχόληση με τον Σακχαρώδη Διαβήτη και την Παχυσαρκία, ενώ κατέχει τη διεθνή Πιστοποίηση SCOPE (Specialist Certification of Obesity Professional Education) για τη διαχείριση και την αντιμετώπιση της παχυσαρκίας από την Παγκόσμια Ομοσπονδία Παχυσαρκίας (World Obesity Federation).

Ολοκλήρωσε την ειδίκευσή της στο Γ.Ν.Α. «Ιπποκράτειο». Στο πλαίσιο της ειδικότητάς της εκπαιδεύτηκε σε όλο το φάσμα της Παθολογίας στις κλινικές, τα εξωτερικά ιατρεία και ειδικότερα στα εξειδικευμένα ιατρεία Σακχαρώδη Διαβήτη και Υπέρτασης του νοσοκομείου. Επιπλέον, συμμετείχε στις εφημερίες του Τμήματος Επειγόντων Περιστατικών.

Έχει διατελέσει Επιμελήτρια Β’ στο Κέντρο Υγείας Καλυβίων, ασκώντας κλινικό έργο που περιλαμβάνει το σύνολο των υπηρεσιών της Πρωτοβάθμιας Φροντίδας Υγείας, με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στις λοιμώξεις, τον προσυμπτωματικό έλεγχο και τη θεραπευτική διαχείριση χρονίων νοσημάτων όπως σακχαρώδη διαβήτη, παχυσαρκία, δυσλιπιδαιμία και υπέρταση. Κατά τη διάρκεια της θητείας της στο κέντρο υγείας συμμετείχε στο πρόγραμμα Sentinel για την επιδημιολογική επιτήρηση λοιμώξεων του ΕΟΔΥ.

Είναι κάτοχος Μεταπτυχιακού τίτλου σπουδών (MSc) στη «Διαχείριση Γήρανσης και Χρονίων Νοσημάτων» από το Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλίας σε συνεργασία με το Ελληνικό Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο. Η διπλωματική της εργασία πραγματεύτηκε τις νεότερες εξελίξεις στον Σακχαρώδη Διαβήτη Τύπου 2 (ΣΔ2) και την ποιότητα ζωής των ασθενών.

Η ιατρός συμμετέχει ενεργά σε επιστημονικά συνέδρια και ενημερώνεται διαρκώς για τις διεθνείς ιατρικές εξελίξεις. Στο ιδιωτικό της ιατρείο παρέχει εξατομικευμένη φροντίδα συνδυάζοντας την κλινική εμπειρία με την εξειδικευμένη γνώση στη διαχείριση οξέων και χρόνιων παθήσεων.

Despoina Rizopoulou is a Pathologist specialized in acupuncture. She maintains private practices in the Nea Raidestos area of Thermi and in Kalamaria. She graduated from the Medical School of the University of Thessaly in July 1997. After completing her rural service, she specialized in Pathology at the Pathology Clinic of Kastoria Hospital and at the 2nd Propaedeutic Pathology Clinic of Hippokration Hospital in Thessaloniki, obtaining her specialty certification in January 2006.

Roussou Maria MD, PhD is a Specialist Physician in Internal Medicine and has maintained a private practice in Chalandri since 2009. She holds a degree and a Doctorate from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and also possesses a postgraduate specialization in "Diabetes Mellitus and Obesity" from the 2nd Propedeutic Clinic of the Medical School of the University of Athens. She has worked as a Specialist Scientific Collaborator and University Fellow at the Therapeutic Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, engaging in clinical, teaching, research, and scientific activities. Furthermore, Dr. Roussou has participated in numerous research studies published in Greek and international conferences and journals. The internal medicine clinic was established with the aim of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment to promote health, addressing issues related to specific internal medicine disciplines, including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, infections, and cardiometabolic diseases.
