Dr. med. Galanis Nektarios is a Vascular Surgeon maintaining private vascular surgery clinics in Athens and Chalkida. He holds degrees in Medicine and Radiation Protection and is a Doctor of the Medical School of Ulm in Germany. He has been trained in vascular diagnostic ultrasound, endovascular techniques, and endovenous laser ablation techniques for varicose veins. Dimopoulos Xristos is the Consultant of the 3rd Vascular Surgery Department at the Athens Medical Center, while also maintaining a private practice as a Vascular Surgeon / Angiologist in Kolonaki and downtown Tripoli. He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens and holds a doctoral degree from the Medical School of the University of Athens as well as from the Medical School of the University of Düsseldorf, Germany. He is a certified specialized user of vascular ultrasound and has participated as a speaker at international Vascular Surgery conferences. He specialized in the full spectrum of Vascular Surgery & Angiology at the University Clinic of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery in Düsseldorf, Germany (Universitätsklinik Düsseldorf, Germany). He trained at one of the largest centers for diabetic foot management and vascular access (fistula) in Germany and specializes in innovative endovascular techniques, having performed over 2,000 related procedures on hemodialysis patients in Germany and Greece. He is the head of the Vascular Access Center at Errikos Dunant Hospital, as well as the head of the Vascular Access Department at the 2nd Vascular Surgery Clinic, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, at GNA “Laiko” Hospital. Mr. Xatzantonis is the pioneer behind the establishment of the first vascular access center in Greece, recognized by the international Vascular Access Society as a training center for vascular access surgery for hemodialysis patients. Venous surgery for lower limb venous insufficiency concerns varicose veins and can be treated conservatively (sclerotherapy injections, Foam, and non-invasive Laser) as well as surgically (Laser, RF). The common feature of all conservative methods is that the patient continues their normal activities while undergoing treatment, whereas surgical methods require the patient to refrain from work for 1 to 2 days and typically involve a 24-hour hospital stay.
