Vakalopoulos Paulos MD, MSc is a Vascular Surgeon - Angiologist, former Director of the Vascular Surgery Clinic at the Naval Hospital of Athens, and Director of the 2nd Vascular Surgery Clinic at Mediterraneo Hospital in Glyfada. He is a graduate of Military Medicine (SSAS), which trains Medical Officers of the Armed Forces who simultaneously attend the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. This dual qualification was achieved with considerable effort, while his continuous education and many years of experience, both at the Naval Hospital of Athens and other units of the Navy, as well as in the private sector, have entrusted him with duties and responsibilities requiring expert knowledge of modern medical technology and decisiveness in daily patient care. His pursuit of advancement in medical science and technology was fulfilled through his postgraduate training in Endovascular Vascular Surgery and Vascular Triplex at Imelda Hospital in Bonheiden, Belgium (2005). Numerous cases employing pioneering methods formed his daily training under the guidance of the Director of the Vascular Surgery Clinic, Patrick Peeters. The determination of his mentor translated into trust for the trainee, resulting in a more comprehensive and effective education. His expertise in Vascular Ultrasound led him to attain a Master’s degree (2016) from the Medical School of the University of Thessaly, completed with distinction ("Excellent"). Ongoing education in new interventional methods using the latest and advanced innovative materials propelled him to earn a Master’s degree (2012) from the Medical School of the University of Athens, completed with distinction ("Excellent"). In the aforementioned Intergovernmental Postgraduate Program "Endovascular Techniques," he is an invited Professor, presenting the latest developments from clinical studies and interesting cases related to the Endovascular repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms.
