Έλαβε το πτυχίο της Ιατρικής από την Ιατρική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου της Genova στην Ιταλία, με βαθμό Άριστα. Εργάσθηκε σαν Ερευνητής στο ίδιο Πανεπιστήμιο.
