Maria Arvanitaki is a school psychologist and the mother of three children.She studied Psychology at the Department of Psychology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her interest in children and in strengthening their psychological resilience led her to pursue postgraduate studies in School Psychology, also at NKUA. At the same time, she began her training in Existential Systemic Psychotherapy at the Antistixi Institute.Her professional journey began during her undergraduate years, providing creative activity programs for children. Over the years, she has worked at the Municipal Health Clinics of the City of Athens offering psychological support services, in special therapy centers, private educational institutions, and on a voluntary basis at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department of Attikon University Hospital, as well as in other public sector settings. Since 2016, she has been working in public education as a school psychologist, while also maintaining a private practice.In parallel, she has participated in annual training programs, including Child and Adolescent Psychopathology, Play Therapy, and Gestalt Psychotherapy.Her close work with children and families has led her to explore the conditions that promote psychological functioning and resilience, the development of self-esteem, as well as family interaction patterns that contribute to both functional and dysfunctional outcomes.The core of her therapeutic work is grounded in respect for the uniqueness of each individual, the recognition and enhancement of personal strengths beyond difficulties or dysfunctions, the assumption of personal responsibility, and the promotion of functional conditions that support psychological well-being and healthy relationships.
