Ολοκλήρωσε τις σπουδές του στην Ιατρική σχολή  του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας στη Λάρισα, όπου και ήρθε πρώτη φορά σε επαφή με την ειδικότητα της Ορθοπαιδικής φοιτώντας δίπλα σε κάποιους από τους μεγαλύτερους δασκάλους στην Ελλάδα. Την ειδικότητα του την ολοκλήρωσε στο 401 Γενικό Στρατιωτικό Νοσοκομείο  Αθηνών όπου θήτευσε δίπλα σε σπουδαίους χειρουργούς και απέκτησε πιστοποιημένη εμπειρία στις Αθλητικές Κακώσεις και την Αρθροσκοπική χειρουργική του Ώμου και του Γόνατος.  Επίσης, σημαντική είναι η εκπαίδευση που έλαβε στην Παιδοορθοπαιδική στο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Παίδων “Αγία Σοφία”. Διετέλεσε για ένα διάστημα στην Ορθοπαιδική κλινική του Kungsbacka Hospital, University of Gothenburg, Sweden όπου και εκπαιδεύτηκε στις νεότερες τεχνικές της χειρουργικής του χόνδρου των αρθρώσεων υπό την καθοδήγηση ενός από τους πρωτοπόρους και διεθνώς αναγνωρισμένους χειρουργούς στο πεδίο αυτό, prof. Mats Brittberg. Τέλος, είναι μέλος της Ελληνικής Αρθροσκοπικής Εταιρείας (ΕΑΕ), της European Society for Knee Surgery, Arthroscopy and Sports Traumatology (ESSKA) και της  European Shoulder Associate (ESA).

Karalaios Nikolaos V. is an Orthopedic Surgeon who maintains a private practice in Larissa.
