Είναι αριστούχος κάτοχος Μεταπτυχιακού Διπλώματος στην Αθλητιατρική από το Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης. Έχει συμμετάσχει σε πληθώρα διεθνών σεμιναρίων και συνεδρίων, παρακολουθώντας τις τελευταίες εξελίξεις στον τομέα της Ορθοπαιδικής παγκοσμίως. Διαθέτει κλινική εμπειρία στο Βερολίνο, Γερμανίας. Σήμερα, είναι συνεργάτης του Νοσοκομείου ΜΗΤΕΡΑ στο Μαρούσι Αττικής, όπου εφαρμόζει προηγμένες θεραπευτικές μεθόδους με έμφαση στην εξατομικευμένη φροντίδα των ασθενών του. Ο κ. Μακρής είναι μέλος της Ελληνικής Εταιρίας Αρθροσκόπησης (ΕΑΕ), Χειρουργικής Γόνατος και Αθλητικών Κακώσεων.
