Σπούδασε στην Ιατρική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης και έλαβε την ειδικότητα της Εσωτερικής Παθολογίας, στο Νοσοκομείο Ευαγγελισμός. Παράλληλα, ολοκλήρωσε την Διδακτορική του Διατριβή στην Ιατρική Σχολή του Εθνικού & Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών, με θέμα: «Η σημασία της διαταραχής της γλυκόζης νηστείας και της διαταραχής ανοχής στη γλυκόζη στην πρόκληση βλαβών στα όργανα στόχους, σε υπέρβαρα και παχύσαρκα άτομα». Επιπλέον, έλαβε πιστοποίηση στην Κλινική Υπερτασιολογία (Clinical Hypertension Specialist), μετά από επιτυχή συμμετοχή στις εξετάσεις του American Society of Hypertension Specialist Program Inc, Chicago. Συνεργάσθηκε επί δύο έτη με την Εταιρεία Επείγουσας Εξωνοσοκομειακής Ιατρικής «SOS Ιατροί», πραγματοποιώντας μεγάλο αριθμό κατ’ οίκον επισκέψεων, ως εφημερεύων Παθολόγος.
