Mpiliou Smaragda is an Internist and a Doctoral Candidate at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with a dissertation on "Microcirculatory Disorders in Patients with Chronic Liver Disease" and maintains a private practice in Dafni. Το τελευταίο έτος της ειδικότητας της στο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Αθηνών "Ο Ευαγγελισμός" υπηρέτησε για τρεις μήνες στην Ρευματολογική Κλινική, όπου συμμετείχε ενεργά στο εξωτερικό ρευματολογικό ιατρείο καθώς και στα περιστατικά της κλινικής. Τους ακόλουθους τρεις μήνες εκπαιδεύτηκε στην Β΄ Καρδιολογική κλινική, με άσκηση στην κλινική, το εξωτερικό καρδιολογικό ιατρείο και τη Μονάδα Εμφραγμάτων, ενώ το τελευταίο τρίμηνο εκπαιδεύτηκε στη Μονάδα Εντατικής Θεραπείας του νοσοκομείου.

Στο παρελθόν έλαβε την απαιτούμενη εκπαίδευση στο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Χαλκίδας και στη συνέχεια υπηρέτησε για 15 μήνες στο Κέντρο Υγείας Ιστιαίας στη Βόρεια Εύβοια ,ως Αγροτικός Ιατρός.
