Επιμελητής στο Τμήμα Γενικής, Λαπαροσκοπικής, Ογκολογικής και Ρομποτικής Χειρουργικής στο Ιατρικό Κέντρο Αθηνών

Σπούδασε στην Ιατρική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών και μετά το πέρας των σπουδών του μετέβη απευθείας στο εξωτερικό και πραγματοποίησε το σύνολο της ειδικότητας της Χειρουργικής σε ένα από τα πλέον ιστορικά και ονομαστά Πανεπιστήμια της Γερμανίας, την Πανεπιστημιακή Κλινική του «Philipps-University Marburg», που αποτελεί κορυφαίο κέντρο αναφοράς στη χειρουργική ενδοκρινών αδένων και νευροενδοκρινών όγκων. Το έντονο και διαρκώς αυξανόμενο επιστημονικό και ακαδημαϊκό ενδιαφέρον του, τον οδήγησε στην ολοκλήρωση της διδακτορικής του διατριβής το 2019 με θέμα «Evaluation of the safety of early drain removal after partial pancreaticoduodenectomy».

Μετά την απόκτηση της ειδικότητας της Γενικής και Σπλαχνικής Χειρουργικής, εργάστηκε αρχικά ως επιμελητής Β και στη συνέχεια ως επιμελητής Α και σε άλλες ονομαστές κλινικές της Γερμανίας, συμμετέχοντας και διενεργώντας και ο ίδιος πληθώρα επεμβάσεων που καλύπτουν όλο το φάσμα της γενικής χειρουργικής. Τα τελευταία χρόνια επικεντρώθηκε στη χειρουργική ενδοκρινών αδένων εργαζόμενος σε ονομαστά κέντρα αναφοράς της Γερμανίας, στο Essen υπό τη διεύθυνση του Prof. M. Walz και στη συνέχεια στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Marburg, όπου σε συνεργασία με την υπεύθυνη του τμήματος χειρουργικής ενδοκρινών αδένων και πρόεδρο της Πανγερμανικής Εταιρίας Χειρουργικής Ενδοκρινών Αδένων, Prof. K. Holzer, διαχειρίστηκαν και αντιμετώπισαν επί σειρά ετών ένα μεγάλο αριθμό περιστατικών, που αφορούσαν τόσο καλοήθεις όσο και κακοήθεις παθήσεις θυρεοειδούς, επινεφριδίων και παθήσεις των παραθυρεοειδών αδένων.

Παράλληλα με την εξειδίκευσή του στη χειρουργική ενδοκρινών αδένων, παρακολούθησε το Μεταπτυχιακό Πρόγραμμα του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης, με αντικείμενο τη Στατιστική και Αναλυτική Βιοϊατρικών Δεδομένων (Health Statistics and Data Analytics), το οποίο και ολοκλήρωσε με άριστα, αποκτώντας τον τίτλο Master of Science (MSc). Το πλούσιο συγγραφικό του έργο και η απρόσκοπτη ενασχόληση του με την εκπαίδευση των φοιτητών της Πανεπιστημιακής Κλινικής Marburg άνοιξαν το δρόμο για την αναγόρευσή του σε Αναπληρωτή Καθηγητή (PD Dr. med.) στο Πανεπιστήμιο «Philipps-University Marburg». Συνεχίζει με υπευθυνότητα και αμείωτο ενθουσιασμό το ακαδημαϊκό του έργο στην Πανεπιστημιακή Κλινική Marburg, συμμετέχοντας στη διδασκαλία και την επίβλεψη διδακτορικών διατριβών των φοιτητών του Πανεπιστημίου.

Έχει συμμετάσχει σε πληθώρα πανευρωπαϊκών και πανγερμανικών συνεδρίων χειρουργικής ενδοκρινών αδένων και νευροενδοκρινών όγκων με παρουσιάσεις σε μορφή posters (ελεύθερων ανακοινώσεων) και ομιλιών, ενώ έχει βραβευτεί για το επιστημονικό του έργο από τη Γερμανική Εταιρία Χειρουργικής Ενδοκρινών Αδένων. Το συγγραφικό του έργο αριθμεί πάνω από 40 επιστημονικές δημοσιεύσεις στο PubMed σε μεγάλα διεθνή ιατρικά περιοδικά, πάνω από 890 βιβλιογραφικές αναφορές και ειδικό δείκτη παραπομπών (h-index) 15. Ως ενεργό μέλος της Ακαδημαϊκής Κοινότητας του Πανεπιστημίου του Marburg συνεχίζει το ακαδημαϊκό και ερευνητικό-επιστημονικό του έργο. Παράλληλα είναι τακτικό και ενεργό μέλος της Γερμανικής Εταιρίας Χειρουργικής Ενδοκρινών Αδένων, της Γερμανικής Εταιρίας Γενικής και Σπλαχνικής Χειρουργικής και μέλος του Συλλόγου Χειρουργών Γερμανίας. 

Agalianos Xristos is a General Surgeon and operates a private practice in Chania. He graduated from the Military Academy of Corps Officers (ΣΣΑΣ) in 2002 as a medical officer of the Hellenic Navy. He completed his specialty in General Surgery in 2011 and was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon at the Navy Hospital of Athens. He specialized in liver, biliary tract, and pancreatic surgery both at reference centers in Greece and at the university hospital in Verona, Italy, where he also completed his postgraduate degree in this field. Concurrently, he pursued his doctoral thesis at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, focusing on malignant diseases of the colon, obtaining his PhD in 2018. He has participated as a speaker in numerous conferences and educational seminars in Greece and abroad and has an extensive body of written and research work published in international and domestic medical journals. Since July 2019, he has been appointed as a consultant surgeon at the Navy Hospital of Crete. Finally, in his practice, he engages in the full spectrum of surgery with specialization in liver, biliary tract, pancreatic, and colorectal surgery, hernia repair surgery, day surgery, as well as laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Dr. Svoronos Gerasimos is a General Surgeon with a private practice in Cholargos. He has 38 years of surgical experience, having performed a large number of operations. He holds a PhD and a degree from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He served as the Head of the Surgical Department at the General Hospital for Thoracic Diseases of Athens "Sotiria" for 20 consecutive years. Dr. Napoleon Xirokostas is a board-certified General Surgeon with subspecialty training in Laparoscopic, Robotic, and Oncologic Surgery. He maintains a private medical office in Rafina, Greece, and also serves as a Consultant Surgeon at the 1st Surgical Department of IASO General Hospital in Athens.

He completed his residency in General Surgery at Evangelismos General Hospital of Athens, the largest tertiary care and trauma center in Greece, where he also held the position of Chief Resident. Paulou Prokopios is a General Surgeon and maintains a private practice in Piraeus. He is an Associate Surgeon at the Euroclinic of Athens and the Private Clinic of Athens "White Cross." The doctor performs surgeries for hernias such as inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia, pilonidal cyst, hemorrhoids, lipomas, and breast surgery. Dr. Theodoropoulos Dionysios is a General Surgeon with 19 years of extensive experience in a wide range of surgical procedures, including both laparoscopic and open methods. During his General Surgery specialization, he completed advanced training in the Vascular Surgery Department at Konstantopouleio General Hospital and in the Plastic Surgery Department at the Oncology Hospital of Ag. Anargyroi. At Konstantopouleio General Hospital, he served as the primary surgeon or first surgical assistant in a wide range of laparoscopic and open surgical procedures. He has worked in the Emergency Department and was responsible for postoperative monitoring and treatment of patients with liver and pancreatic cancer. Delikoukos Stylianos MD, PhD is a General Surgeon who has maintained a private practice in Larissa since 2007, with a branch office established in Agia since 2016. He is a graduate of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He completed his military service as a Reserve Lieutenant Medical Officer and fulfilled his Rural Service obligations. He specialized in General Surgery at the Hospital of the Hellenic Red Cross in Athens and, following successful examinations, obtained the title of Surgeon. In 1984, he completed a Doctoral Thesis at the University of Athens, which was unanimously accepted, and was awarded a PhD in Medicine. After obtaining his specialty, he worked as an Associate Surgeon at the Athens Medical Center and subsequently at the Surgical Clinic of the General Hospital of Chalkida, initially as Second Consultant and later as First Consultant. Ο Φιστόπουλος Ιωάννης είναι Γενικός Χειρουργός και διατηρεί ιδιωτικό ιατρείο στο Παλαιό Φάληρο. Το 1988 γίνεται δεκτός μετά από εξετάσεις στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Cluz-Napoca στην Ρουμανία (U.M.F. Cluz-Napoca). Μετά την αποφοίτηση του το 1994, ακολουθεί μέσα από μια σειρά εξετάσεων η λήψη άδειας επαγγέλματος κ η λήψη του τίτλου Medicin Docteur (MD). Dr. Lazaros Lazarou is a General Surgeon, certified in surgical oncology of the colon and rectum, pancreas, stomach, liver, and thyroid gland, as well as in proctology, with specialized expertise in laparoscopic and robotic surgical procedures. He maintains a private medical practice in Volos, Greece. He studied and specialized in Germany, where he pursued a career in Surgery. He completed his residency at the Department of General, Visceral and Transplant Surgery of the University Hospital of Ulm, where in 2007 he obtained his Board Certification in General Surgery and was appointed Consultant Surgeon, while in 2010 he acquired the qualification in Advanced Visceral Surgery. In 2013, he was promoted to Deputy Director, and in 2015 to Associate Director of Surgery, with parallel responsibilities for the development of the 14 Centers of Excellence of the surgical department, including all oncological centers, as well as centers for inflammatory bowel disease, thyroid and parathyroid glands, hernia, and sarcoma. In 2017, he assumed the position of Director of General, Visceral, Thoracic and Transplant Surgery at the Stuttgart Hospital, which is a certified Oncology Cancer Center of the German Cancer Society (DKG) and a Transplant Center with 23 Centers of Excellence. At the same hospital, he also served as Scientific Coordinator and Medical Director, with responsibilities including: coordination of the Visceral Oncology Center (esophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver, colon and rectum, endocrine glands, peritoneal and other metastases, sarcoma), director of the Oncological–Visceral Tumor Board, delegate for the education of medical students at the Center for Surgical Medicine, transfusion officer of the department, coordinator of the research programs of the Visceral Oncology Center, officer responsible for quality assurance of the Department of General, Visceral, Thoracic and Transplant Surgery, as well as member of the committee of the German Cancer Society responsible for the certification of Centers of Excellence in Visceral and Oncological Medicine. Mr. Lazaros Lazarou returned to Greece with his family, aiming to offer his extensive surgical experience and scientific expertise acquired at leading German and European certified centers where he worked. His commitment focuses on personalized treatment based on Greek and international protocols, access to minimally invasive surgery, optimal surgical outcomes, absolute transparency and trust, as well as continuous education and innovation. Protopapas Giannoulis MD is a General Surgeon - Proctologist and maintains a private practice in Gkyzi. He holds a medical degree from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and specialized in General Surgery at the General Hospital of Athens "G. Gennimatas". He received further training in Emergency Prehospital Medicine and holds certifications in ATLS and Definitive Surgical Trauma Care Course. He is affiliated with the Athens Clinic and Doctor's Hospital. Additionally, he is a member of the Hellenic Society for Wound and Ulcer Healing and participates in numerous conferences in Greece and abroad as part of his ongoing professional development, having presented both oral and poster presentations.

Ziozia Vasiliki is a General Surgeon, Senior Registrar of the 1st Surgical Clinic at IASO and maintains a private practice in Nea Irakleio. She holds a degree from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a Master's degree in "Surgical Anatomy" from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Dr. Ziozia has received a scholarship from the Hellenic Surgical Society to obtain her postgraduate degree, as well as a scholarship from the Hellenic Society of Coloproctology for specialization in colorectal and anal surgery at St Thomas’ Hospital in London. Dr. Kexagias Aristotelis MD, PhD, FACS is a General Surgeon with subspecialization in Advanced Laparoscopic and Endocrine Surgery, as well as Laser procedures. He graduated with honors as a PhD from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He holds two specialty qualifications (double specialty), one in General Surgery (Athens), and the other in Laparoscopic Surgery of the Digestive System and Endocrine Glands, following further training at the University Hospital of Tampere, Finland. He has received additional training at leading international centers in laparoscopic surgery and thyroid/parathyroid surgery, including the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, UMC Utrecht in the Netherlands, and Rudolfstiftung in Vienna. He underwent advanced training in modern minimally invasive Laser techniques at the Tor Vergata University Hospital in Rome. He is certified in advanced laparoscopic surgery by IRCAD France in Strasbourg. He is a member of numerous Greek and international surgical scientific societies and the American College of Surgeons. He has participated as an invited speaker at many international and national conferences. He maintains a private practice in Agia Paraskevi and performs surgeries at private hospitals in Athens.

Ioanna Papadopoulou is a General Surgeon and maintains private practices in Cholargos and Glyfada. She performs exclusively laparoscopic surgery for benign and malignant conditions of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, gallbladder and bile ducts, as well as all types of abdominal wall hernias. She received her Medical Degree from the “Gr. T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi in 2012. She completed her rural service at the General Hospital of Messinia – Kyparissia Nursing Unit in 2013–2014. In 2021, she obtained her surgical specialty certification.

During her specialty training, she served at the 417 Army Fund Nursing Institution (N.I.M.T.S), where she specialized in advanced laparoscopic surgery for malignant colon diseases, obesity, reflux, and hernias, as well as thyroid malignancies. Additionally, at the Sismanogleio General Hospital of Athens, she participated in a large volume of colon and thyroid cancer surgeries. Considering that the present of surgery lies in laparoscopic and robotic techniques, she attended advanced laparoscopic seminars organized by ELPEN under the auspices of the Hellenic Surgical Society from 2016 to 2018.

In 2021, she completed further training in Surgical Oncology, earning a Master of Science (MSc) degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Finally, in 2023, she received additional training in the latest methods for managing complex diaphragmatic hernias and reflux at the Symposium on Innovation in Surgery in Malta.
