He completed three years of postdoctoral training abroad (1994-1997) and acquired a Fellowship specializing in Corneal Diseases & Transplantations. His professional career is marked by numerous significant milestones, including his directorship and responsibility for the Cornea Department and the Corneal Transplantation Unit at the Ophthalmology Clinic of the University Hospital of Heraklion from 1998 to the present. He is a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Medical School of the University of Crete. He performs surgical procedures covering the full spectrum of ophthalmology, employing the most advanced techniques. Notably, he is a pioneer in the management of Chemical Burns and is recognized nationwide for his expertise in Corneal Epithelial Stem Cell Transplantations as well as Amniotic Membrane Transplantations. In his private practice, he treats a wide range of cases, combining acknowledged scientific excellence with extensive experience and unquestionable professionalism.
