Oikonomou Nikolaos - Tiverios

Oikonomou Nikolaos - Tiverios is a Neurologist - Clinical Neurophysiologist with private practices in Ilisia and Rafina. He specializes in sleep disorders, epilepsy/epilepsy surgery, and electroencephalography. He holds a PhD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in collaboration with the University of Pisa in Italy in sleep disorders, the European certification as a Sleep Specialist - ESRS Somnologist Expert, as well as official specialization in Sleep Medicine from the Hellenic Ministry of Health, and a Master’s degree (MSci) in Epileptology from the C. Besta Neurologic Institute in Milan, Italy. He completed specialized training (specialty and fellowship) in neurophysiology, specifically in sleep disorders, in Switzerland (University of Zurich - Neurocenter of Southern Switzerland), and in Epilepsy/Epilepsy Surgery in the USA (Cleveland Clinic). He is the Director and Scientific Head of the Sleep Disorders - Epilepsy and 24-hour Electroencephalographic Recording Center "SOMNIO" (Psychiko Medical Center and Athens Bioclinic). He is a Clinical-Research Collaborator at the University of Athens (Aeginiteio Hospital), a visiting professor at the Democritus University of Thrace (Postgraduate Program "Sleep Medicine" since 2014), and a Lecturer in Neurology (S.E.P.) at the Hellenic Open University (H.O.U.) since 2017. Since 2014, he has been an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Society of Sleep Research and participated for two years on the appointed expert committee of the Ministry of Health for the establishment of Sleep Medicine specialization in Greece. His research interests focus on clinical neurophysiology (sleep medicine and epilepsy), and he is the author of over 45 original articles in reputable international journals, 8 book chapters, and has been an organizer, speaker, and chairperson at numerous national and international conferences and roundtable meetings.
