Dr. Ioannis Virlos is a General Surgeon who maintains a private practice in Glyfada. He graduated from the Medical School of Alexandroupolis, Democritus University of Thrace, obtaining his medical degree in 1990. He has received training not only in Greece but also in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Belgium.After completing his military service in 1992, he trained in General Surgery in hospitals in Athens and the United Kingdom between 1992 and 1999, obtaining his specialty title in General Surgery in 1999. From 2002 to 2012, he served as a surgical consultant in hospitals in the UK, Australia, Belgium, and Greece. Specifically, he worked at the following hospitals in the UK: North Middlesex, Arrowe Park, Derriford, Torbay, Exeter, Cheltenham, and North Bristol, as well as at Sir Charles Gairdner University Hospital in Perth, Australia, and Sotiria Hospital in Athens (as Senior Consultant).During the same period, he received advanced training in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and laparoscopic bariatric surgery at Singleton Hospital in Swansea, UK, and Heilighart Ziekenhuis in Roeselare, Belgium.From 2012 to 2021, he worked as a Consultant Surgeon at the following hospitals in the UK: Ealing Hospital, Homerton University Hospital, John Radcliffe & Churchill Hospitals in Oxford, Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Northampton General Hospital, and University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. He returned to Greece in 2021.Since 2023, Mr. Virlos has been the Director of Surgery at Metropolitan General Hospital in Athens. He also serves as the General Secretary of the Hellenic Society of Coloproctology. Finally, for the period 2025–2028, he will represent Greece at the European Society of Coloproctology.

Pantelis Athanasios MD, MSc (QMUL), FMBS, SCOPE Cert., FACS, is a General Surgeon with a private practice in Ilion. He specializes in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, is a graduate of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and holds two postgraduate degrees from Queen Mary University of London and the Medical School of Athens. He has received specialized training in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery as well as in obesity and metabolic disease surgery, having trained at the prestigious Mohak centers in India and Ponderas in Romania as a fellow of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES). He has gained experience in hospitals in Greece and abroad, having served as a Consultant Surgeon in hospitals in Bucharest and India. Currently, he is a Consultant Surgeon at the Psychiko Medical Center and a Scientific Collaborator at the 1st Propaedeutic Surgical Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens at the General Hospital of Athens "Hippocrates." He maintains an active research portfolio, is an author and reviewer for international medical journals, and regularly participates in international conferences and educational programs. Ειδικεύτηκε στη Γενική Χειρουργική στο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Αττικής "Σισμανόγλειο" και στο Digestive Disease Center του Cleveland Clinic της Florida των ΗΠΑ με υποτροφία της Ελληνικής Χειρουργικής Εταιρείας. Είναι Διδάκτωρ της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Είναι Fellow μετά από κρίση του American College of Surgeons (ACS) και του American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS). Έχει διατελέσει εκπρόσωπος των νέων χειρουργών παχέος εντέρου και ορθού της Ευρώπης στην Επιτροπή Μελών του European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP). Έχει διατελέσει υπεύθυνος για την Ελλάδα σε περισσότερες από 10 διεθνείς πολυκεντρικές μελέτες με τις αντίστοιχες δημοσιεύσεις σε περιοδικά μεγάλου κύρους όπως τα Lancet, Anaesthesia και British Journal of Surgery. Είναι κριτής σε 11 περιοδικά χειρουργικής και μέλος του εκδοτικού συμβουλίου στα Nature Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Surgery και Colorectal Disease. Έχει συγγράψει πάνω από 120 άρθρα-δημοσιεύσεις σε ξενόγλωσσα περιοδικά με περισσότερες από 2500 αναφορές. Επίσης έχει συμμετάσχει ως ομιλητής σε περισσότερα από 20 Ελληνικά και Διεθνή Συνέδρια και έχει γράψει 2 κεφάλαια συγγραμμάτων χειρουργικής.

Dr. Ioannis Dimitriou, MD, PhD, is a General Surgeon, Certified Oncologic Surgeon, Proctologist, and Minimally Invasive Surgeon, maintaining a private practice in Marousi, Greece. He specializes in Robotic Surgery (Da Vinci X- & XI-System ©INTUITIVE) and holds a PhD from the Medical School of Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany. Dr. Dimitriou studied at the Medical School of Justus Liebig University in Giessen, where he also successfully completed his doctoral thesis. He specialized in General and Visceral Surgery at the University Hospital Klinikum Krefeld in Germany and subsequently at the University Hospital and Oncology Center Alfried Krupp Krankenhaus Essen. In 2010, he obtained his Surgery specialization, followed by the Visceral Surgery specialization in 2014. He further acquired subspecialties in Oncologic Surgery (2017) and Proctology (2019). In 2012, he was promoted to Senior Consultant (Oberarzt), and in 2018, he became Deputy Director (Stellvertretender Klinikleiter) of the Oncology Center at Alfried Krupp Krankenhaus Essen. In 2019, he assumed the role of Head of the Surgical Department at St. Barbara-Hospital Gladbeck and Sankt Marien-Hospital Buer in Germany—both Certified Oncology Centers (Augustinus Tumor Centrum – ATC) and Certified Hernia Centers (Hernienzentrum) under the German Hernia Society (DHG). In 2023, he was appointed Director of the Surgical Department at the University Hospital Marien-Hospital Marl, a Certified Colorectal Cancer Center (Darmkrebszentrum) accredited by the German Cancer Society (DKG), where he also served as Scientific Director.
