After completing his undergraduate studies, he served in the Greek army as a Cadet Officer and was discharged with the rank of reserve Second Lieutenant. In 2006, he was awarded a scholarship from the Onassis Foundation for studies at the Department of Biomaterials and Biomimetics at New York University (USA).
