Dr. Lazaros Lazarou is a General Surgeon, certified in surgical oncology of the colon and rectum, pancreas, stomach, liver, and thyroid gland, as well as in proctology, with specialized expertise in laparoscopic and robotic surgical procedures. He maintains a private medical practice in Volos, Greece. He studied and specialized in Germany, where he pursued a career in Surgery. He completed his residency at the Department of General, Visceral and Transplant Surgery of the University Hospital of Ulm, where in 2007 he obtained his Board Certification in General Surgery and was appointed Consultant Surgeon, while in 2010 he acquired the qualification in Advanced Visceral Surgery. In 2013, he was promoted to Deputy Director, and in 2015 to Associate Director of Surgery, with parallel responsibilities for the development of the 14 Centers of Excellence of the surgical department, including all oncological centers, as well as centers for inflammatory bowel disease, thyroid and parathyroid glands, hernia, and sarcoma. In 2017, he assumed the position of Director of General, Visceral, Thoracic and Transplant Surgery at the Stuttgart Hospital, which is a certified Oncology Cancer Center of the German Cancer Society (DKG) and a Transplant Center with 23 Centers of Excellence. At the same hospital, he also served as Scientific Coordinator and Medical Director, with responsibilities including: coordination of the Visceral Oncology Center (esophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver, colon and rectum, endocrine glands, peritoneal and other metastases, sarcoma), director of the Oncological–Visceral Tumor Board, delegate for the education of medical students at the Center for Surgical Medicine, transfusion officer of the department, coordinator of the research programs of the Visceral Oncology Center, officer responsible for quality assurance of the Department of General, Visceral, Thoracic and Transplant Surgery, as well as member of the committee of the German Cancer Society responsible for the certification of Centers of Excellence in Visceral and Oncological Medicine. Mr. Lazaros Lazarou returned to Greece with his family, aiming to offer his extensive surgical experience and scientific expertise acquired at leading German and European certified centers where he worked. His commitment focuses on personalized treatment based on Greek and international protocols, access to minimally invasive surgery, optimal surgical outcomes, absolute transparency and trust, as well as continuous education and innovation. Following a competitive selection process, he assumed the position of Coordinating Director of Surgery at the Volos Hospital, while simultaneously providing his services at his private practice and in private hospitals. His clinic focuses on minimally invasive surgical techniques (laparoscopic and robotic surgery) and specialized oncological surgery. Particular emphasis is placed on colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, as well as the surgical treatment of endocrine glands and proctology. Dr. Lazaros Lazarou is a member of distinguished German and Greek medical societies that play a leading role in his specialty and actively participates in their conferences and scientific activities. He has contributed to the authorship of studies published in prestigious international scientific journals and has delivered numerous lectures and presentations at international conferences.
