Dr. Marina Sykara is a Biologist and a Specialist Rheumatologist, holding a PhD from the Medical School of Athens (NKUA).
She began her studies at the Department of Biology, School of Science, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with an early focus on immunology and autoimmunity. After obtaining her first degree, she continued her studies at the Medical School of the University of Athens while simultaneously conducting and successfully completing her Doctoral Thesis with distinction at the same university, focusing on the study of molecular pathogenic mechanisms in systemic autoimmune diseases. She further pursued her research as a postdoctoral fellow at the Medical School of Athens and subsequently at the internationally renowned Molecular Biology Center of the University of Madrid (Centro de Biologia Molecular, Severo Ochoa).
Her specialization in Rheumatology was completed entirely at the University General Hospital “Laiko,” with active participation in the Centers of Expertise for Rare Systemic Autoinflammatory and Autoimmune Diseases, where she gained specialized knowledge and extensive clinical experience.
Her scholarly contributions include original publications in reputable international scientific journals and medical texts, and she has been honored with two European awards of excellence for her contributions to basic and clinical research (EULAR, ERE). She actively participates in international rheumatology scientific conferences and clinical studies. She is a regular member of the Hellenic Rheumatology Society. Her scientific approach is based on evidence-based medical knowledge, clinical precision, and personalized patient care.
