He is among the first scientists to have internationally documented that conservative treatment can reduce or eliminate the size of intervertebral disc herniation and that paretic sciatica caused by discopathy is no longer an absolute indication for surgery, but can be managed equally well or better conservatively.

Dr. Marina Sykara is a Biologist and a Specialist Rheumatologist, holding a PhD from the Medical School of Athens (NKUA).

She began her studies at the Department of Biology, School of Science, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with an early focus on immunology and autoimmunity.
