Katerina Nikolakopoulou is a Psychologist – Psychotherapist who maintains a private practice in Koukaki (near the "Acropoli" Metro station). She holds a degree in Psychology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Master of Science (MSc) in Cognitive Neuropsychology from the Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam. She is a member of the Hellenic Psychological Society and has been officially recognized as a licensed psychologist (NIP) in the Netherlands, where she lived and worked for nine years.She began her professional career in psychology with an academic internship at KEPEP Agios Dimitrios in Thessaloniki, working with children with special needs. She continued her training as a volunteer at the 1st Psychiatric Clinic of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki at "Papageorgiou" General Hospital. Upon moving abroad to further her studies, she worked as a research assistant in the field of Cognitive Neuropsychology at the Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam.During her studies, she attended a seminar on sleep disorders at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience (NIN) in Amsterdam, which sparked her deep interest in the role of sleep and its significance in human psychology. This led her to clinical and research involvement in the field. She pursued a specialization in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i) and opened her private practice in the Netherlands. At the same time, she completed clinical training in the sleep department of a hospital in Amsterdam, continued research at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience, and for a period, taught at Webster University in Leiden.Through her interaction with clients, personal somatic psychotherapy, clinical supervision, and participation in training seminars, she was inspired to explore the deeper causes of psychological difficulties that can affect sleep and other bodily functions. She attended various seminars in the Netherlands, mainly focused on somatic therapy, including Mindfulness for Stress Reduction, Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM) therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and CBT-i.She eventually decided to pursue systemic psychotherapy and moved to Athens to begin a new 4-year postgraduate training at the Institute of Training & Research in Systemic Psychotherapy, “Logos Psychis.” Drawing from her experience and knowledge in neuropsychology, and using a wide range of cognitive and somatic psychotherapeutic techniques—with a focus on the enriched systemic model SANE (System Attachment Narrative Encephalon ®)—she supports individuals seeking professional help in managing issues that affect their daily lives.One of her core beliefs is that every person has the ability to overcome the challenges they face, as long as they are equipped with the right tools.
