Dr. Ioanna Kalkounou was born in Athens and raised in Nafplio. She attended the Medical School of the University of Athens after successfully passing the nationwide entrance examinations, graduating in 2004. In 2011, she worked as a scientific collaborator in the Dermatology-Allergology Clinic at the Charite University Hospital in Berlin. In 2011, she was awarded a PhD from the Medical School of the University of Athens.
