About the specialist

Varinou Eirini - Soul Rythm is a Psychologist - Psychotherapist - Expressive Art Therapist who works online with clients in Greece and abroad. She graduated with honors from the Department of Psychology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and has completed postgraduate studies in Dynamics, Communication, and the roles of individuals within groups at the University of Essex. Her passion for the Arts led her to specialize in Psychotherapy through Expressive Arts, a model developed by Avi Goren-Bar that integrates fundamental psychotherapeutic approaches with the Arts, aiming to understand the human psyche and harmonize the various aspects of the individual. This approach treats the human psyche holistically, allowing emotions to be better contained, as the arts complement what language and cognition often fail to reach.

Additionally, her training is consistently enriched with psychotherapeutic methods, including a three-year training in Psychodrama, a four-year participation in monthly seminars on Relational & Group Psychotherapy, and numerous workshops in the Internal Family Systems method, Authentic Movement, and body-inclusive psychotherapy approaches.

Throughout her career, she has provided services to numerous organizations and hospitals and is a founding member of the Association of Greek Expressive Therapists & Jungian Coaches. She conducts individual sessions with adults, couples, adolescents, and children who, for various reasons, prefer and choose online support. Finally, through continuous supervision and active participation in international and Greek conferences and study trips, she expands her knowledge and skills. More information about her approach can be found on her website soulrythm.com.

Dimitris Aggelopoulos is a psychotherapist and educator specializing in Group Analysis. In his private practice, located in the center of Athens, he provides individual and group psychotherapy to individuals facing challenges in their personal lives, relationships, or mental health. His goal is not only the relief of symptoms, but also the emergence of each unique individual and the discovery of new ways of behavior and perception, focusing on healthy relationships and a sense of fulfillment.

He firmly believes that psychological difficulties are not solely individual problems, but mirrors of society, the relationships, and the groups within which we live and interact. Through Group Analysis, he utilizes the function of the group to facilitate the revealing of hidden aspects of the self, offering honest feedback and creating a space where individuals can express themselves freely, without fear of judgment. The group operates as a microcosm of relationships – a dynamic reality in which changes do not remain theoretical, but significantly impact the members’ broader lives.

Dimitris Aggelopoulos fosters an environment of safety and trust, where each person has the opportunity to face their challenges and cultivate the distinctive characteristics of their personality. Psychotherapy is not a luxury, but a vital investment in the relationship with ourselves and others.

What it is

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy applied to problems such as depression, anxiety disorders, abuse, relationship and marriage problems, eating disorders and serious mental illness. The therapist emphasizes what is happening in the current life rather than the past and what led to the difficulties.

Approach

Identifying the distortions in a person's thinking that are causing problems and then examining these in the light of reality. Understanding the behaviour and motivations of others and using problem-solving skills to deal with difficult situations. Dealing with fears rather than avoiding them. It is used for people with suicidal behavior, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use disorder, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, ADHD, depression, anxiety.

Approach

DBT focuses on acceptance and change. It helps the person to get to know themselves better, to think about why they do what they do, without judgment. Replacing a negative behavior or habit with ones that can improve the quality of life. Dialectic is the idea that two different things can be true at the same time. At the same time as accepting yourself exactly as you are, comes the recognition of your effort to change.
