Dr. Ioanna Kalkounou was born in Athens and raised in Nafplio. She attended the Medical School of the University of Athens after successfully passing the nationwide entrance examinations, graduating in 2004. Subsequently, she completed her rural service at the General Hospital of Tripoli (Nephrology Unit). In 2011, she worked as a scientific collaborator in the Dermatology-Allergology Clinic at the Charite University Hospital in Berlin. She then began her specialization in Dermatology at the Vivantes Klinikum Spandau in Berlin. She continued and completed her specialization at the University Clinic of the "Andreas Syggros" Hospital. In 2011, she was awarded a PhD from the Medical School of the University of Athens. She has developed a writing activity since her specialization years and has participated in many international dermatology conferences.
