Panagiotopoulos Nikolaos PhD, FICS, FSSO

Panagiotopoulos Nikolaos PhD, FICS, FSSO is a Thoracic Surgeon specializing in robotic surgery for the treatment of lung cancer and other thoracic diseases. He completed his training and specialization at university hospitals in London and Cambridge. He has served for several years as a Consultant at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and as an Associate Professor at University College London (UCL). He performed the first robotic lung surgery using the Da Vinci robot in 2015 and has since completed numerous procedures involving the lungs and thorax, encompassing the full spectrum of Thoracic Surgery. He is internationally recognized for the diagnosis and surgical treatment of slipping rib syndrome. Additionally, he has a particular interest in chest wall deformities (pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum) and their surgical (NUSS and Ravitch technique) or non-surgical (vacuum bell and brace treatment) management. Another area of clinical interest is the surgical treatment of hyperhidrosis using robotic techniques. Finally, he has developed a strong research and academic profile, participating in multicenter London studies such as TracerX, which investigates gene mutations and the progression of lung cancer. He has over 120 publications in internationally recognized journals. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Medicine, Fellow of the International College of Surgeons, and Fellow of the Society of Surgical Oncology.
