Sourmelis Achilleas - Dental Center Smile Ahead

Doctor Achilleas Sourmelis graduated from the School of Dentistry at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and, in 1993, completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Athens. Since 1993, he has operated the Smile Ahead Dental Center in Chalandri, where the full range of modern dental services is provided, while doctor Sourmelis specializes in oral and maxillofacial surgery and dental implants. Today, the Center’s experienced and specialized dentists responsibly address any dental problem that may arise in patients of all ages.

At the fully equipped Center, modern dentistry is practiced in the dental room, while oral and maxillofacial surgery and dental implants are performed in a specially designed surgical room. Procedures requiring general anesthesia are performed by doctor Sourmeli at the Private Hospital “hygeia”, where he has been an affiliate since 2004.

The Center’s facilities feature state-of-the-art dental technology, including: a wireless intraoral 3D scanner, a digital panoramic X-ray machine, X-ray machines, furnaces, surgical motors for oral & maxillofacial surgery and implants, a digital device for recording tooth & implant occlusion, and more. All of these are operated using modern digital software installed on all computers.

Doctor Sourmelis is the first Greek physician to become a member of the European Association for Osseointegration (European Association for Osseointegration - EAO), and in 2006, he was the first Greek to place dental implants using computer-guided 3D planning (Computer-Guided Implantology ß SIMPLANT). That same year, at the 36th Panhellenic Dental Congress held at the Athens Concert Hall, he delivered the first scientific presentation in Greece on the topic of “Placement of Dental Implants Using 3D Computer-Guided Technology.” A few years later, he also implemented digital occlusal analysis, which is now routinely used at the Center for both natural teeth and dental implants (T-Scan Occlusal Analysis System).

The Smile Ahead Center uses certified materials that meet international standards (ADA, EU), and specifically for dental implants, it provides an international certificate-passport from the implant manufacturer it uses.
