Dr. Miraxtsis Theodoros MD, PhD is an Ophthalmic Surgeon - Military Physician and Director of the Ophthalmology Clinic at the 424 General Army Hospital of Thessaloniki, with a private practice in Thessaloniki. He holds a degree from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and is a graduate of the Military Officers School of Corps (SSAS). He has completed postgraduate studies in Pediatric Ophthalmology and, as part of his doctoral thesis, he is extensively involved in the management of macular diseases (wet and dry age-related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema or post-thrombotic conditions), with the administration of new anti-angiogenic agents (anti-VEGF) and lasers. Currently, in his fully equipped ophthalmology clinic, he practices across the full spectrum of Ophthalmology with a special emphasis on Pediatric Ophthalmology - Neuro-ophthalmology, the correction of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism with laser techniques (LASIK - PRK - FEMTO-LASIK), especially for candidates of military, police, and merchant marine academies, as well as the treatment of corneal disorders (e.g., keratoconus) using the new Cross-Linking method. He has been trained in cataract surgery using phacoemulsification and the implantation of special toric intraocular lenses for the correction of high refractive errors (very high myopia and astigmatism).
