He graduated from the Dental School of the University of Athens in 1988, attended postgraduate orthodontic courses in France in 1991 and 1992. He completed postgraduate studies at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki from 1993 to 1997, where he obtained a Master's Degree in Orthodontics and shortly afterward, following examinations by the Ministry of Health, the title of Specialist Orthodontist. In 2007, he was awarded a PhD from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with the highest distinction. Finally, he was a member of the Editorial Board and a reviewer for the journal Greek Orthodontic Review. 

Markou Nikos DDS, MSc, PhD is a Periodontist and owns the private Periodontology and Implantology clinic Time To Smile located at Mavili Square.

He was admitted first into the Military School of Corps Officers (ΣΣΑΣ) in 1989 and graduated in 1995 with the rank of Second Lieutenant Dentist with excellent performance. He completed his three-year specialization in Periodontology at the Dental School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) in 2005. In 2010, he served as a visiting Scientific Collaborator for six months in the Postgraduate Program of Periodontology and Implantology at Tufts University, Boston, USA. He served for many years in positions of responsibility within the Medical Corps of the Armed Forces, and from 2005 to 2021 he was Director of the Periodontology Department at the Athens Garrison Dental Clinic. He has been actively involved for several years in the educational activities of the Dental School of the University of Athens as a Scientific Collaborator in the Periodontology and Implantology Laboratories. To date, he has participated as a speaker in numerous conferences, and his work has been published in both Greek and international journals.
