Ο Αθανάσιος Σιδέρης είναι Καρδιολόγος και διατηρεί ιδιωτικό ιατρείο στη Θεσσαλονίκη και τις Σέρρες.Το 2005 αποφοίτησε από την Ιατρική Σχολή του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης με βαθμό «Λίαν Καλώς». Το 2008 εργάστηκε ως Αγροτικός Ιατρός Υπαίθρου στην περιοχή της Νέας Ζίχνης του Νομού Σερρών.Ακολούθως διετέλεσε άμισθος επιστημονικός συνεργάτης της Β’ Παθολογικής Κλινικής (Στεφανιαία Μονάδα – Καρδιολογικό Τμήμα) του Γενικού Νοσοκομείου Ιπποκράτειο Θεσσαλονίκης και ξεκίνησε την ειδικότητα της Παθολογίας στο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Ειδικών Παθήσεων (Λοιμωδών) Θεσσαλονίκης κατά την περίοδο 2009–2011.Το 2012 συνέχισε την ειδίκευσή του στην Καρδιολογία στο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Ξάνθης και στη συνέχεια στα Γενικά Νοσοκομεία «Γ. Γεννηματάς» και «ΑΧΕΠΑ» Θεσσαλονίκης, όπου ολοκλήρωσε την ειδικότητά του το 2015. Μετά την ολοκλήρωση της εκπαίδευσής του, υπήρξε επιστημονικός συνεργάτης της Α’ Καρδιολογικής Κλινικής του Νοσοκομείου ΑΧΕΠΑ.Από το 2016 συνεργάζεται με το Ιατρικό Διαβαλκανικό Θεσσαλονίκης, συμμετέχοντας σε επεμβατικές καρδιολογικές πράξεις, όπως στεφανιογραφίες και αγγειοπλαστικές.
