Ophthalmologists for Macula lutea in the Northern suburbs of Athens

Ο Σαϊτάκης Γιώργος είναι Χειρουργός Οφθαλμίατρος με ιδιωτικό ιατρείο στη Νέα Ερυθραία. Εισήχθη στην Ιατρική Σχολή του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών κατόπιν Πανελληνίων εισαγωγικών εξετάσεων. Διετέλεσε υπότροφος του «Γερουλακείου Ιδρύματος» καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια της εξαετούς φοίτησης στην Ιατρική Σχολή, ως αριστούχος εισακτέος και ακολούθως, ως φοιτητής (2005-2011). Ειδικεύτηκε στην Οφθαλμολογία στη Β’ Πανεπιστημιακή Οφθαλμολογική Κλινική του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών στο Πανεπιστημιακό Γενικό Νοσοκομείο "Αττικόν’’, με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στους τομείς του γλαυκώματος και του αμφιβληστροειδούς. Εκπονεί τη διδακτορική διατριβή του (PhD) στο αντικείμενο της Διαβητικής Αμφιβληστροειδοπάθειας στη Β’ Πανεπιστημιακή Οφθαλμολογική Κλινική του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Κατά το ακαδημαϊκό έτος 2018-2019, συμμετείχε στην κλινική εκπαίδευση στην Οφθαλμολογία των πεμπτοετών φοιτητών Ιατρικής του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Μετά από πανευρωπαϊκές εξετάσεις στο Παρίσι, απέκτησε τον τίτλο του “Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology, FEBO“. Ακόμη, τον Μάρτιο του 2018, έλαβε την υποτροφία του καθηγητή Οφθαλμολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου του Harvard "E. Gragoudas“, αφού κατέλαβε την πρώτη θέση σε πανελλήνιες γραπτές εξετάσεις ανάμεσα στους Έλληνες ειδικευόμενους Οφθαλμολογίας, και παρακολούθησε στις ΗΠΑ το ‘’Lancaster Course in Ophthalmology’’,το οποίο διοργανώνεται από το Harvard Medical School και το Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Εν συνεχεία, το ακαδημαϊκό έτος 2019-2020, εξειδικεύτηκε στον τομέα της Νευρο-Οφθαλμολογίας (διάρκεια Fellowship 1 έτος) ως προσκεκλημένος Neuro-Ophthalmology International Fellow στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Harvard, στο νοσοκομείο Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, στην Βοστώνη των ΗΠΑ, υπό την καθοδήγηση των παγκοσμίου φήμης καθηγητών Νευρο-Οφθαλμολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Harvard, Dr Joseph Rizzo III και Dr Dean Cestari. Κατά την παραμονή του στις ΗΠΑ, o κος Σαϊτάκης συμμετείχε με εργασίες στο Συνέδριο Νευρο-Οφθαλμολογίας της Βορείου Αμερικής (NANOS) και ανέλαβε ερευνητικά projects στο πεδίο της νευρο-οφθαλμολογικής προσβολής στην ‘’IgG4-related disease’’, συνεργαζόμενος με τον φημισμένο καθηγητή Ρευματολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου του Harvard, Dr John Stone. Είναι κάτοχος του Μεταπτυχιακού Διπλώματος (MSc) «Οπτική και Όραση» του Βαρδινογιάννειου Εργαστηρίου Μεταμοσχεύσεων και Μικροχειρουργικής του Οφθαλμού (IVO) και της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης, αποφοιτώντας από το διετές πρόγραμμα με τον υψηλότερο βαθμό. Είναι, ακόμα, κάτοχος του Μεταπτυχιακού Διπλώματος (MSc) «Διοίκηση Υπηρεσιών Υγείας και Διαχείριση Κρίσεων» του Πανεπιστημίου Πελοποννήσου (2017). Κατά το ακαδημαϊκό έτος 2013-2014, εκπαιδεύτηκε στον τομέα της Γενικής Οφθαλμολογίας στην Οφθαλμολογική Κλινική του Πανεπιστημίου Ludwig-Maximilian’s (L.M.U.), Μόναχο της Γερμανίας. Εργάστηκε, επίσης, ως Ερευνητικός και κλινικός συνεργάτης στο Ελληνικό ΄Ίδρυμα Υγείας (Hellenic Health Foundation) υπό την εποπτεία της Καθηγήτριας των Πανεπιστημίων Αθηνών και Harvard κας Αντωνίας Τριχοπούλου στα προγράμματα ‘’Consortium on Health and Ageing: Netwotk of Cohorts in Europe and the United States” και ‘’Υδρία’’. Eίναι ιδρυτικό μέλος της Διεθνούς Εταιρείας Έρευνας της Αλληλεπίδρασης Ψυχικών και Σωματικών Νοσημάτων. Έχει συμμετάσχει σε σημαντικό αριθμό ξένων και ελληνικών συνεδρίων, καθώς και ξενόγλωσσων και ελληνικών δημοσιεύσεων. Τέλος, διατελεί Διευθυντής του τμήματος Νευρο-Οφθαλμολογίας στο Athens Eye Hospital.

Dr. Kotsiras Ioannis, MD, MSc, is an Ophthalmologist and Deputy Director at "Errikos Dunant Hospital Center" and maintains private clinics in Nea Smyrni, Petroupoli, and Medihall in Kifissia. He graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and has extensive experience, having worked for several years at "Errikos Dunant" Hospital, as well as at the General Hospital of Athens "G. Gennimatas". He is an Ophthalmic Surgeon specializing and with particular research interest in Ultrasound Microsurgical Cataract Surgery, Corneal Surgery, the Study and Correction of Refractive Anomalies, Surgical Removal of Eyelid Lesions, Glaucoma Pathology and Surgery, the Study of Posterior Segment Diseases, as well as Macular Disorders. Additionally, he holds a Master's Degree in "Healthcare Management" from the University of Piraeus, and it is worth mentioning that in 1996 he was awarded by the International Basic Science Assessment in Ophthalmology. To date, he actively participates in Greek and international conferences, seminars, and ophthalmology meetings through lectures, presentations, and posters, as well as serving as a trainer in experimental surgical workshops (wet labs) at conferences.

Mpika Marina is an Ophthalmologist with a private practice in Kapandriti. She is a Surgical Ophthalmologist graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and specialized in Pediatric Ophthalmology at the General Children's Hospital of Penteli and in Ophthalmology at the University General Hospital "Attikon." Additionally, she received training in Cataract Surgery and Glaucoma at the University General Hospital "Attikon." Kardara Eugenia MD is an Ophthalmologist who maintains a private practice in Vrilissia. She holds a degree from the University of Debrecen in Hungary and is specialized in ophthalmic surgery at the Athens Anti-Cancer Oncology Hospital "Agios Savvas." The doctor has worked in hospitals in Greece and abroad, such as "Erythros Stavros" and Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital clinic in India. Toulia Paraskeui MD, FEBO is an Ophthalmologist who maintains a private practice in Agia Paraskevi. She is a graduate of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in ophthalmology. He graduated in Medicine from Semmelweis University and specialized in Ophthalmology in Germany, at the University Clinic of Hamburg. He is surgically specialized in Laser procedures for the correction of myopia, hypermetropia, and astigmatism, as well as in cataract surgeries. He holds the Greek and European Title of Ophthalmology Specialty (Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology - FEBO) and has served as the scientific head of the ophthalmology department at the Athens Medical Center and the Ophthalmology department at the largest private multi-specialty clinic in Mykonos, the SEA Medical Health Clinic, for 9 years. He has completed the multi-year Swiss postgraduate program of the European Board for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology in Lugano, Switzerland, from which he obtained the title DiSSo (Diploma of Superior Specialist in Ophthalmology). Finally, he is accredited by the European School of Aviation Medicine of Lufthansa in Frankfurt as an aeromedical examiner for pilot licenses class II (PPL).

Varvagiannis Nikolaos I. is an Ophthalmologist maintaining a private practice in Pefki. He holds two undergraduate degrees, one from the Department of Biology and another from the Department of Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
