Είναι Επιστημονικός Υπεύθυνος Μονάδας της Υποβοηθούμενης Αναπαραγωγής του Νοσοκομείου ΜΗΤΕΡΑ και μέλος του Επιστημονικού Συμβουλίου του ίδιου Νοσοκομείου. Ο Δρ. Ιωαννίδης είναι μέλος πολλών διεθνών επιστημονικών εταιρειών όπως η Ευρωπαϊκή Εταιρεία Ανθρώπινης Αναπαραγωγής και Εμβρυολογίας (ESHRE) και η Αμερικανική Εταιρεία Αναπαραγωγικής Ιατρικής (ASRM). Έχει διαρκές επιστημονικό έργο είτε ως διοργανωτής πολλαπλών συνεδρίων που αφορούν την Εξωσωματική Γονιμοποίηση ή ως προσκεκλημένος διεθνής ομιλητής.
