Georgiannakis Emmanouil is a Thoracic Surgeon and Director of the Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Department at Metropolitan Hospital. He trained and graduated as an Advanced Fellow in Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Techniques from Shanghai Chest Hospital, Jiatong University, becoming the first Greek to graduate from this institution and was honored with the continued right to practice surgery there. On November 17, 2017, he performed the first nationwide and Balkan thoracic surgery using the advanced Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgery system, and in 2018, he performed the first Robotic Lung Lobectomy in Greece as well as in the entire Southeastern Europe (SEERS sector), fully recognized by the American Intuitive through its Greek representative Sofmedica. Additionally, in the same year and upon invitation, he performed the first Robotic Thymectomy and the first Robotic Lung Lobectomy in the history of the Republic of Cyprus at the American Heart Institute in Nicosia. Finally, the physician has performed numerous thoracoscopic (V.A.T.S.) and robotic (R.A.T.S.) thoracic procedures and continues to actively promote Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery techniques both in Greece and internationally.
