Georgiadis Athanasios MD, PhD is a Rheumatologist maintaining private practices in Ioannina and Preveza. He is a summa cum laude Doctor of the University of Ioannina and a graduate of the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. For the past 15 years, he has served as a Scientific Collaborator at the Rheumatology Clinic of the University Hospital of Ioannina, and previously he taught medical students as well as postgraduate students at the University of Ioannina. Additionally, he has received scholarships and funding. Specifically, in 2000, he was awarded a scholarship from the Hellenic Rheumatology Society for his clinical research titled "Study of the expression of P53 and Bcl2, as well as the detection of p53 gene mutations and t14:18 translocation of the bcl2 gene in peripheral blood and bone marrow cells in patients with rheumatoid arthritis." His research interests primarily focus on understanding the pathogenic mechanisms of autoimmune diseases, particularly rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus, and others. Furthermore, he concentrates on the application of novel therapeutic methods and the design of clinical studies in autoimmune rheumatic diseases, as well as in the field of osteoarthritis, utilizing the latest regenerative medicine techniques and tissue regeneration through autologous cell therapy. Finally, he has participated in numerous conferences, published extensively in a variety of Greek and international journals, and there are 420 international citations under his name.
