Οι γαστρεντερίτιδες, ειδικά οι ιογενείς μεταδίδονται αρκετά εύκολα και κυρίως από τα σταγονίδια οπότε εάν είστε κοντά για αρκετό διάστημα και χωρίς μάσκα, υπάρχει.
Αυτό, με το δεδομένο ότι πρόκειται για γαστρεντερίτιδα και όχι τροφική δηλητηρίαση (όπου δεν συνηθίζεται πυρετός και η διάρκεια συμπτωμάτων είναι μικρή).
