During my working experience at a Dyslexia Center, I provided counseling to parents, as well as I conducted individual sessions with children and adolescents diagnosed with ADHD, Autism, and other developmental disabilities. In addition, I promoted social skills learning through the use of board games, CBT techniques, role-playing, and various psychoeducational materials. My decision to pursue a career as a psychotherapist stems from a profound love for understanding the intricacies of the human soul. This profession brings me immense fulfillment as it allows me to help individuals feel heard, gain deep self-awareness, and piece together the complex puzzles of their lives. Papafilippou Xristoforos MSc is a Psychotherapist - Mental Health Counselor maintaining a private practice in Pangrati. His work is based on the Person-Centered approach, where the therapeutic relationship is the core element of the process, standing alongside the client as a companion on their journey of self-exploration. His role is not to direct or provide ready-made solutions but to create a space where the individual can hear themselves more clearly.

For him, the foundation of therapy is the relationship: to listen to the client, to see them for who they are, and to stand with acceptance towards all parts of them, including those they may struggle to embrace.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
mental health

What it is

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy applied to problems such as depression, anxiety disorders, abuse, relationship and marriage problems, eating disorders and serious mental illness. The therapist emphasizes what is happening in the current life rather than the past and what led to the difficulties.

Approach

Identifying the distortions in a person's thinking that are causing problems and then examining these in the light of reality. Understanding the behaviour and motivations of others and using problem-solving skills to deal with difficult situations. Dealing with fears rather than avoiding them. Role-playing to better prepare for potentially problematic interactions with others. You become your own self-therapist.

How it could benefit you

Helps the individual to change dysfunctional thought patterns and behaviors. Improves your functioning and quality of life by helping to change patterns and behaviours. Teaches you to be your own self-therapist.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
mental health

What it is

It is a form of psychotherapy that teaches a person to identify negative thought patterns and change them. DBT reinforces the acceptance that all your thoughts are valid, as they are part of your life experiences and who you are. The person acts by doing the best they can for the moment.
