He specialized in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology at KAT Hospital, where he also trained, among other fields, in Microsurgery. He has worked in both the private and public sectors in Greece and abroad. Among other roles, he served as the physician for the National Under-21 Football Team for one year, for the Judo Team of the National Gymnastic Association for over ten years, as team doctor for the Molaikos Laconia club, as a race doctor for the "Zirineia" Athletics competitions, as well as for the National Judo Team. He served in the National Health System (E.S.Y.) as head of the Orthopedic Department, from which he resigned holding the rank of Senior Registrar (Epithelitis A’). He has over ten years of experience in various hospitals in the United Kingdom, having performed over 2000 surgeries as a surgeon or trainer, most recently at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital of University Hospitals Dorset, where he was also nominated for "Best Trainer." He has won the World Judo Championship for Healthcare Professionals twice (2008 in Germany and 2009 in Spain), as well as his category in the Greek Veterans Judo Championship (Nea Makri, 2024), with additional medals from international and national competitions.

Ο Οικονομούλας Βασίλειος είναι Ορθοπαιδικός Χειρουργός – Αθλητίατρος και Διευθυντής της Ορθοπαιδικής Κλινικής του Ιατρικού Κέντρου Περιστερίου και επιστημονικος συνεργάτης Ολυμπίου θεραπευτηρίου Πάτρας. Διατηρεί ιδιωτικό ιατρείο στην στην Αγία Βαρβάρα Αττικής και στην Πάτρα. Έχει επίσης διατελέσει ιατρός της ομάδας μπάσκετ του Προμηθέα Πατρών και μέλος του ιατρικού επιτελείου της ποδοσφαιρικής ομάδας της ΑΕΚ.

Είναι πτυχιούχος Ιατρικής και Διδάκτωρ του Πανεπιστημίου του Marburg στη Γερμανία. Εξειδικεύτηκε στην αρθροσκοπική και επανορθωτική χειρουργική του γόνατος και στη χειρουργική άκρου ποδός στη Sportklinik ARCUS Pforzheim της Γερμανίας, όπου διετέλεσε επιμελητής στο Τμήμα Κάτω Άκρου. Παράλληλα, εξειδικεύτηκε στις οστεοτομίες γόνατος και στις αναθεωρήσεις του προσθίου χιαστού συνδέσμου στη Sportklinik Innsbruck.

Έλαβε τον τίτλο ειδικότητας του Ορθοπαιδικού Χειρουργού από το Kreisklinikum Siegen, ακαδημαϊκό κέντρο του Πανεπιστημίου του Marburg, υπό τη διεύθυνση του Καθηγητή Dr. Palm.

Είναι πιστοποιημένος χειρουργός άκρου ποδός από τη Γερμανική Εταιρεία Χειρουργικής Άκρου Ποδός και Ποδοκνημικής (Gesellschaft für Fuß- und Sprunggelenkchirurgie – GFFC) και κατέχει τον τίτλο Αθλητιατρικής από το Πανεπιστήμιο της Φρανκφούρτης.

Σήμερα είναι Διευθυντής της Ορθοπαιδικής Κλινικής του Ιατρικού Κέντρου Περιστερίου, διατηρεί ιδιωτικό ιατρείο στην Πάτρα και στην Αθήνα, είναι υπεύθυνος των Τμημάτων Κάτω Άκρου και Αθλητικών Κακώσεων του Ορθοπαιδικού Χειρουργικού Κέντρου Αθηνών και συνεργάζεται με το Ολύμπιον Θεραπευτήριο Πατρών.
