Dr. Giannakos Athanasios-Rene S. is specialized in arthroscopic surgery of sports injuries of the knee and shoulder, as well as in M.I.S. Fast Track total knee and hip arthroplasty. He initiated and completed his Orthopedic and Traumatology residency at the University General Hospital of Larissa in the Orthopedic Clinic Department under the direction of Professor K.N. Malizos. He is a PhD candidate at the Medical School of the University of Thessaly. During the final year of his residency, he trained in shoulder and knee arthroscopic surgery at the Minimal Access Surgery Unit of the I.R.C.C.S. GSD Hospital, Milan, Italy, under Professor - Director Prof. Pietro Randelli. He also trained in M.I.S. After performing thousands of hip arthroplasty surgeries, he was designated as one of the official reference centers in Europe for training orthopedic surgeons in the AMIS technique. He performed the first live surgery using the AMIS technique in Greece as part of an educational seminar on hip arthroplasty.

He specialized in knee arthroplasty using the minimally invasive MIK technique.
